The Lost - Buffy connection.
Dr. Horrible 2 talk.
How Supernatural's Fifth Season Will End. No spoilers, just lulz.
Character art for 'The Losers'. ♥ Chris Evans and Zoe Saldana.
Tolkien's Ladies: Is Geek Culture Female-Friendly? I think the fact that a lot of the male characters in LotR are either 'feminine' elves or cuddly hobbits or noble romantic heroes lends itself to female viewership as well, which is something that the article didn't touch on.
Tonight I saw Män som hatar kvinnor (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo)
While "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" sounds a lot cooler, the original title of "Men Who Hate Women" would suit this film more. I thought it was terrific. It's very confronting and triggery, dealing with physical, emotional, and sexual violence against women, but it also has a gripping fifty-year-old murder mystery at its core and a fascinating female lead. Apparently the book is really good. I like the contrast between modern technology and the older police work, and the characters are fleshed-out and interesting. Noomi Rapace is fantastic as Lisbeth Salander, the girl in the title, and the male lead is a sympathetic one. I think there's at least one scene that is just there to prove a point about feminism, though, and that took me out of the movie a bit. It's beautifully shot. It also has one of the least accurate portrayals of Australia since 'Lost'. I love that to Europeans, Australia really is just the end of the world.
