I was trying to figure out what annoyed me about this article about Warehouse 13 (which, admittedly, I've never seen) (also: SPOILERS) and then I figured out it's directly related to this awesome graph, and that is: the article suggests that the reason women don't watch a lot of science fiction shows is because of the subject matter, ie. space and spaceships and aliens (or that there's something wrong with them if they do.) Really, what's wrong with those shows is that they're such male universes, populated by men who interact with other men, wherein women are defined entirely by their relationships with said men. How can we relate to something we're not even a part of? You need to change who you're writing in order to change who you're writing for.

Real life:
Interviewed for the director position I want today. I will be so bummed if I don't get it, seriously. I don't think the interview went as well as it could have, I was tired and not feeling well.
Puck isn't letting me get much sleep, but he's so damned cute. He does this little butt wiggle before he pounces on things, and it's adorable. Also, he's quite cuddly. He keeps scratching me, though, mostly by accident - trying to get up on my lap and things like that. I'm covered in scratches.
It's really fucking hot.
Glee:
Go join gleeverse, it's fun. It's one of those game communities where you're on a team and you do challenges. I'm on Team New Directions, because clearly the Glee kids are the best.
Woo! 'Glee' officially renewed for a second season! I'm sick of seeing "I love Glee, even though it's flawed" everywhere. Quit qualifying your love. 'Chuck' is flawed. Hell, even 'Dollhouse' is flawed. I think there's only three genuinely flawless seasons of television I've ever seen.

And there's some...she says she supports the separation of church and state, but also implies in one of her statements that going to church can be equated with good morals.
US singer Chris Brown has been sentenced to 180 days' community labour and five years' probation for assaulting pop star Rihanna. He attacked her because she's a woman and he terrorised her and he doesn't have to jail. And she got back together with him. UGH.

I went to see Wicked and Avenue Q in Melbourne this weekend. Wicked was AWESOME. Seeing Defying Gravity live was so brilliant, and I had BRIGHT GREEN ALCOHOLIC SLUSHY and I got a green t-shirt that says "Defy Gravity" across my boobs. I may post a picture of me wearing it later. The girl who played Elphaba was fantastic, and Millsy was hilarious. He was terrible, but oddly adorable at being terrible. Like he didn't care that he sucked at singing, dancing and acting. TBQH he probably doesn't. Avenue Q was brilliant too. I'd never actually seen "You Can Be As Loud As the Hell You Want" so that was a bit of a surprise, but hilarious. I was crying with laughter by the end of it. All the actors were great. Also, we went to TGI Friday's, and a reeeally good Thai food place, and I will be full for a week but the food was so good.

Why our 'amazing' science fiction future fizzled. It's an interesting read, but the perspective on science fiction is very narrow - it's really just using it to get people to read the article about the lack of practical applications of cool inventions (OMG TELEPORTATION EXISTS!). Science fiction, whether positive or negative, is not (solely) about cool gadgets.
Also, robots have always creeped me out.

To the Kuzuis: Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal! Talk of - I kid you not - a 'Buffy' reboot. To copy/paste from what I said intruffle_shuffle"s post on the matter:
There's only a million things wrong with this idea, and comparing it to Star Trek is just INSULTING. How is that even comparable when Buffy has only been off the air 6 years? If it were closer to 30 years, then maybe. Maybe. And only if those fuckwads the Kuzuis had NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.
Meanwhile, here's the Whedonesque post if you want to talk about it. The basic idea seems to be relaunching with just Buffy the character, and nothing from the show. So...the original movie 'relaunched'. Have they SEEN the original movie? Star Trek had all the original characters, a storyline that made the new franchise work, a damn good team behind it, and...oh, yeah, Gene Roddenberry is no longer with us.
Angel vs. Torchwood, with the link title 'Plagiarism or homage? You decide.'
Seriously? Are you kidding me with this shit? Comparing Doyle to Suzie?! The other ones are bad, but DOYLE AND SUZIE? GTFO.
In order to reposition himself as a loser after temporarily being awesome enough to mention Muhney on his blog, Perez Hilton has a hissy fit because Fierce Adam refuses to actually say he's gay. His loyal followers all attack him in the comments, it's well worth reading.
There was a horrible snarky article about Dollhouse that made disparaging comments about Joss linked recently on Whedonesque, and I was going to bitch about it now as I'm on a roll, but I've lost the link. Oh well.
