I was so excited about uni last semester, but I'm finding it really hard to get the motivation to do anything at all this semester. I've also been feeling really tired.

“Buffy” Vs. “Torchwood”: Which Did a Better Job Killing Its Gay Character? I agree with the arguments of the writer about the actual circumstances of their deaths, and the importance of them in the course of the show (except for his assertion that Tara's death was the MOST IMPORTANT THING TO HAPPEN IN ALL OF BUFFY, what?!) but connecting all of that to the fact that they're gay (which Ianto wasn't, actually - at best he was bisexual) made me angry, and the last page of the article made me go into rage. EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER on Torchwood kissed a person of both sexes, its main character will have sex with pretty much anyone, at this point the MAJORITY of the Torchwood crew has been killed off, and it was created by an openly gay man. Also, if writers started treating their LGBT characters differently to everyone else, that would totally defeat the purpose of trying for equality, would it not?
Also, I'm a chubby, geeky girl starving for representation, but I didn't take it as a personal offence when they killed off Gert in Runaways. Even though she's totally my favourite and the series is more boring without her. I know it's not exactly comparable and it's not like chubby, geeky girls are fighting for equal rights or anything, but come on. Stop trying to get writers to treat their gay characters like gods. BAH.
