Okay, I have had a shitty night. It was going nicely, played Guitar Hero with Mitchell then went to his friend's place for wine and cheese and general dignified sort of interaction. Came home, got screamed at by my sister completely unfairly (she leant DVDs to Mitchell, and because he'd forgotten to give them back and they weren't there when she wants them, we are all horrible unreliable bitches who do nothing but cause her misery and she never wants anything to do with any of us again, and no, she has NEVER LIKED ME. I'm not kidding.) So then Mum came in for a D&M with me about Clare's behaviour, during which I got a text message from a friend of mine who is totally hot but who I really don't want to date saying he thinks I want to be more than friends with him. So. AUGH. What?

Now, fandom to cheer me up.

Do the Lord of the Rings fans on my flist know about pocketfuloposes? It's the legendary kiltsandlollies' picspam community and it is solid gold.

BSG AND TORCHWOOD SOON OMG.

I got two 'thanks but no thanks' emails from jobs I actually wanted today. One of them was filled by someone already working there, which was fine, but I know I could've done the other. I also spent about 3 hours driving around, which is longer than I spent actually at work out of my car. And I can't access my e-mail at all, but Squishy can, and that's not a good sign.

Olivia Williams cast as Adele DeWitt in Dollhouse! Finally, a cast member with an easily spelt and pronounced name. However, Ausiello lost serious points in my book for saying he'd 'never heard of her' (he was wrong, but still) and the other site loses points for naming 'X-Men: The Last Stand' as her outstanding achievement. I don't know how anyone could forget her in 'The Sixth Sense.' In my head she's always Chaucer's naked with in the 'A Knight's Tale' deleted scene. The deleted scenes for that movie are better than the movie itself, I swear.

This makes the second day in a row that I've failed to mention that Mitchell and I went to a really interesting lecture at the Museum on Saturday about the special effects in Lord of the Rings. My memory fails at LIFE.

The guy who was giving the lecture, Paul Kirwan, was a compositor. He started by showing us the finished reel, then showed us how different parts of it were made and then put together in order to get the final product. I think the best part was seeing the animations of the creatures' skeletons and musculature at work, which were absolutely fascinating. The sections were the 'crumbling stairs' in the Mines of Moria getting to the bridge of Khazad Dum (specifically Legolas's arrow hitting a goblin, then a pan around to see two other goblins die in the foreground with the Fellowship in the background), the Watcher at the Gate (specifically it whipping Frodo into the air - Elijah did that stunt and you could see, in the raw footage, a bunch of guys hovering around with their arms out to stop him hitting equipment and hurting himself) and the cave troll attack (specifically Aragorn getting thrown into a wall - he starts as CG Aragorn and ends as stuntman!Aragorn.) The worst part was the guy mispronouncing Shia's name (he worked on Transformers as well.) Kirwan was very obviously enamoured of Peter Jackson, but he made him sound like a pretty hard taskmaster. We got to see all the different parts, not just the computer graphics stuff but the actual passes of the miniatures and the actors against blue-screen. Best part? It was free. :D

I was having such an awesome week and then today the winding mechanism on one of the car windows broke. It sucks, because it broke when the window was all the way down, so I can't just leave it at a carpark. I will have to get it fixed tomorrow. I need the car for work Friday.

Notes on my Wednesday night ABC viewing: I wanted to jump through the screen and shag Adam Hills in his shirt that matched the question cards, and The Chaser got the release date for Deathly Hallows wrong so I am cranky with them. Especially since they're going on hiatus until September! Boo.
