Been so slack with movie reviews.

Last Wednesday I saw Crazy, Stupid, Love

Yeah, I'm pretty much sold on Ryan Gosling now. Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are gorgeous in this, and Ryan sells a significant transformation pretty effectively. Steve Carrell and Julianne Moore are charming, too. Still, the best performance is from the boy playing their son, who is clever and romantic and funny and very, very real. He totally runs away with every scene he's in. It's a stunningly shot movie, too, some of the framing made me make grabby hands at the screen it's so pretty. It's got this shiny LA sheen to it.

Plot-wise, it's pretty different. A little long, but a lot of the B-storyline is great. I LOVE Liza Lapira as Emma Stone's friend.

In spite of all the good things about this movie, it's still sexist. The women pretty much come off worse in all the storylines. What it is about romantic comedies? Just having a couple of strong female characters doesn't excuse the fact that most of the women are two-dimensional one night stands for Ryan Gosling's "womaniser". Also, Steve Carrell and Julianne Moore have a little girl who barely speaks and is completely ignored. It's a pretty fresh, different and unusual movie, why does it have to be sexist?

Last Thursday I saw Guess Who?

Racist, sexist, offensive, unfunny crap. Why, Zoe Saldana? The original is classy.
