(no subject)

Today was better than yesterday.

Woke up late and missed the Play into Film lecture. Watched "Throne of Blood", Kurosawa's version of Macbeth. It was largely dull and repetitive, and Lady Macbeth was dead creepy, but at least he looked Macbeth-y. I think I'm too much of a fan of the original Shakespearian language to appreciate this. I love Shakespeare. I was also most annoyed that there was no Macduff.

Went to lunch with Melissa. We spoke of Monty Python, among other things (very abridged):
"What's that show? With the former child star in it. Donnie Wahlberg! And it had everything from different perspectives, first the cops, then the bad guys..."
"I'm wanting to say Boondocks?"
"Boomtown!"
Went to German Cinema, finally got to see The Cabinet of Dr Caligari (but for the last 10 minutes), which I thoroughly enjoyed except that the concept of the somnambulist was rather stupid and unexplained, and he was more sad than scary.

Went to French class, went back to German Cinema to see the last 10 minutes of a rather odd little documentary about oil rigs(?). Did some reading in the library, came home, went online for 2 hours, had dinner, watched Rove. Huzzah.

I remembered something else from the con I don't think I included in my summary. Ben and Warren did a great presentation on the making of Gollum, from the initial sketches to models. Then they said "This is the final, horrifying visage that we see on screen." Cue a picture of Haldir looking angry. Hee. Those boys are so *cute*!!!

I found THREE great recs today for Link of the Day, two funny and one serious and lovely written for me. But I think crown!pron by ladyjackyl may take precendence, all things considered.
