Man, this one is tough. I think most of the books I love are fairly widely loved (Harry Potter, Good Omens, To Kill a Mockingbird.) If you haven't read Harry Potter...do.Since I got into TV and movies I'm not as big a reader as I used to be, although I go through phases of it. There is this fantasy series called Rhiannon's Run, which comes after the series The Witches of Eileannan; it's all very much inspired by Scottish history and mythology, and it's pretty good. Mitchell loves it. I found Rhiannon's Run to be more accessible than the original series, but all of them have seriously kick-butt heroines, which is nice.

As for fanfic: shoebox_project. Just read it.
