only 18 days left!!!!!!
Today was okay. I went to uni and my Film Studies class, and my tutor knew that Harry Potter's out soon, so I was pleased. Then I met Melissa and Anthony in the refectory and had lunch. Then I went to my Anth lecture and sat with Opal coz Anna was AWOL. It was boring. But we got to fill out fun forms at the end. And then I avoided doing the assignment that's due Friday. And then I watched Rove. My life is full of thrills.
On Rove. Avril Lavigne was high and mostly boring, but funny when they brought out the koala. I love that Ainslie chef guy. Rove really got stuck into another Big Brother evictee, which was fun to watch. I forget the rest. This always happens.
I've realised that the really big major huge difference between the Harry Potter books and the movies is the way in which they see themselves. The books just don't take themselves as seriously, not nearly as lofty. Everything's kind of put into perspective or taken much more lightly. The movies take themselves far too seriously, really, all very lofty and holier-than-thou, and not with cute little funny comments to lighten the mood and stuff. I think Columbus tried to have a little of that, but generally failed.
It'll be interesting to see what Cuaron does. He's not a greatly humourous director, really, and it seems he's making the third book *terribly* dramatic--not quite as glossy as Columbus, but still just as serious, if not more so. It's even looking like he's taken out Quidditch, which is often a tension-breaker. All very odd.
What does everyone think of the significance of that thieves' hand Harry finds in Borgin and Burkes? It's rather well stressed in both the book and the movie. Maybe important?
