Way I figure it, I finished HBP 3 minutes after the Americans got it.

By the way, the UK Lost promos over at [livejournal.com profile] voodoo_in_tx's journal are ridiculously cool.

Watched the first half of the Firefly series and went to T&N's for dinner tonight. Jayne is hilarious, Kaylee is gorgeous, Mal is sexy.

HA, all you people who created Blaise characters *cough*[livejournal.com profile] frozenwithin*cough* are in some trouble now....
;)

Did no-one else feel like it was less dramatic than 5 somehow?

Erm. Nothing further to report. Carry on.

Shiny - no days, because it's already come out.

I have re-watched all of firefly in the past two days! :P
My neice and I keep walking around the house and ramdomly start singing "Jayne... the man they call jayne..."

From: [identity profile] frozenwithin.livejournal.com

I have finished it too Katie - my eyes are killing me!

HA, all you people who created Blaise characters *cough*frozenwithin*cough* are in some trouble now....
;)

Shhh, my Blaise is character wise the same, just uh, lookswise he aint!

Did no-one else feel like it was less dramatic than 5 somehow?
i liked it better than 5!
I never liked Sirius, so 5 didn't really fuss me, but this one was all about the bad boys I love Draco/Snape/Tom Riddle & it had Blaise!
I am mighty happy!

you mean the promos where they're all dancing? or have there been others?

From: [identity profile] flamingo-killer.livejournal.com

Yes, I thought five was darker until the last 100 pages.

I actually hated it until that point, but then again I had been up for 48 hours so I will promptly re-read after I get some sleep.

I'm bawling. BAWLING.
Yeah, highlight to read so I don't get shot:

i thought it was more angsty than 5 but the major death wasnt as well built up as Sirus's death, well i thought that anyways

From: [identity profile] carencey77.livejournal.com

Hmm. How do I post in white font? Already have a theory on big obvious burning q, but sort of afraid to put it right out in the open.

From: [identity profile] flamingo-killer.livejournal.com

Write <*font color=white>Your text goes here<*/font>

For that code, you can either use the color name or the code, so you could also use #FFFFFF instead of white, etc.

=)

Ah, thanks. I am stupider than stupid when it comes to HTML. I just went ahead and posted in the previous entry where there was stuff all over the place, and someone had already had the same idea I did. :)

From: [identity profile] flamingo-killer.livejournal.com

No worries! Yeah, I saw that. I figure if the OP is talking spoilers, the comments are going to be expected so as well.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Ahh. Well, Sirius is the love of my life, whereas I've been thinking Dumbledore was going to die for ages, so I was well prepared for that.

Snape. He stands out the most. My thoughts keep coming back to him.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

As I've said, I think they'll be back.

I liked the whole thing, but it was a whole different feel to book 5.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Oh, okay. Why's that? I saw a LOT less angst in this one.

From: [identity profile] frozenwithin.livejournal.com

I was shocked with the Lupin/Tonks and with Snape getting the DADA position, the rest I kind of expected also.

This is definietly a Snape book. So which way are you leaning - 'Snape is Evil'. Or 'Snape is Good'.

I almost cried when Potter got Draco with that curse, I thought he was gonna die.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Snape getting the DADA position was crazy. But hang on, Dumbledore *knows* the position is cursed, why'd he put Snape there?!

I'm leaning Snape is complicated. *g*

That bit was over too fast for me to process it, really. Still going for Harry over Draco, but Draco was *very* interesting in this book.

SPOILERS

I have no idea what to think about Draco, he's an evil little shit head, yet I think he's gonna turn out being a big coward when faced with big tasks, and won't be able to go through with them. I pity him.

Snape though. I feel he's good, there was too much pointing to him being on the side of good instead of evil.
  • He had to make the Unbreakable Vow, so that he could preserve his cover infront of Narcissa & Bellatrix.
  • The argument between him and Dumby that Hagrid overheard, Sanpe is resisting something that Dumby wants him to do. Dumby ends it by reminding him that he like promised to do something, and that he can't change his mind now.
  • Where Dumby tells Potter to fetch Snape as soon as they get back. Something is going on there, and it's not just that Snape could perhaps identify the potion that he drank and give him a remedy.
  • When Sanpe is about to kill him, Dumby pleads with him, he doesn't say, "please, Severus, don't." He's not asking Snape NOT to kill him. So, it's possible that he's asking Snape to go through with what they had previously arranged.
  • When Snape is fleeing, he doesn't really attack Harry, he keeps stopping him from using an Unforgivable.
There's other little things too, but I truely believe that Snape is gonna turn out to be good at the end of book 7.

  • From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

There's also the fact that in the final duel he prevents someone from using Crucio *against* Harry. He says it's because they have to keep Harry for Voldemort, but then why stop Crucio? It won't kill him.

I do think Dumbledore wanted Snape to kill him, but I also think that Snape identifies with Narcissa and cares about what happens to Draco.

    From: [identity profile] frozenwithin.livejournal.com

True, well there was enough time for Legilimens to occur to between Snape/Dumbeldore, just before Snape killed him, as if Snape still didn't want to do it, and Dumby has ordered him to. I do truely believe that was the plan.

I also think that Snape identifies with Narcissa and cares about what happens to Draco.
I do believe that also, Snape is torn, he wants to help them.

I just cannot fooking wait for Book 7 now, this is gonna be the worst wait ever!

    From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Yeah, I think that was the plan too. Snape and Dumbledore were both good at Legilimency *and* Occlumency, though.

    From: [identity profile] frozenwithin.livejournal.com

    True.

Then there's the Coward part as Snape is fleeing, harry calls him one, and Snape says don't.

It would take a hell of alot of courage to kill the one person in the world that believes your innocece and trusts you so much to give you a command to kill him if it came down to it to keep him undercover.

And Harry calling Snape a coward when he's leaving the grounds, and Snape reacting so harshly to it, would xplain alot.

    From: [identity profile] melissajane14.livejournal.com

I've been thinking Dumbledore was going to die for ages

Me too. I wasn't really surprised my many of the developments. About a week ago I predicted that Snape would be the half blood prince and was laughed down by someone who said "but he's a pureblood." Also Harry/Ginny I have seen coming since CoS.

I hope no-one who hasn't finished is reading this.

    From: [identity profile] frozenwithin.livejournal.com

I do know what you mean, it suprised me only cause, I honestly didn't see that one coming, my head is so far shoved into Slash it's all I see. Canon just doesn't do it for me *laughs*

    From: [identity profile] magikalcrab.livejournal.com

I loved this one! I can't believe it took me so long to read - I finsihed book 5 in less time than this, and it was over 100 pages shorter.

ANYWAY. I'm pretty sure that Mara already covered everything that I thought, sadly enough. And the huge ranty post I put up.

Oh, also? Her Blaise is still the one in my heart, forever. And Terry's! *cackles*

    *sobs over who died*

    From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Snape becoming DADA teacher came out of left field completely for me, as did him killing Dumbledore. I wasn't as surprised by a lot of the other stuff.

    From: [identity profile] melissajane14.livejournal.com

The whole Snape storyline was a bit of a shock really. Part of me is still hoping that he really IS not as evil as he appears.

It also puts a whole new spin on the first five books. Despite the Spinner's End bit, I'm still not sure of his motivations for acting good in them, or if he was acting. Dumbledore was so adamant.

It's sad that Dumbledore went down with so little fight.

BTW when they were headed for the lake for the funeral, my first though was "He's going to the grey havens"

    From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

They lived together! They gave presents together! SOINLOVE. Just because Lupin's moved on to Tonks doesn't mean he didn't love Sirius, dammit!

    *pouts* *clings to SBP*

    From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

I don't think he is; I think Dumbledore wanted Snape to kill him. I don't know why he would do that, but after talking to [livejournal.com profile] frozenwithin and taking into consideration Dumbledore's actions that's my guess.

LOL! Dumbledore's going to go have hot wizard sex with Gandalf in the Undying Lands.

    From: [identity profile] melissajane14.livejournal.com

Dumbledore wanted Snape to kill him

Like he accepted it as destiny... yeah I had thought of that myself.

    From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

No, like he *told* Snape to kill him at a previous point and then begged him to do it up on the tower. I like this new theory that the potion was the Horcrux and Snape had to kill Dumbledore to get rid of it, that's interesting. But however it goes, I think Dumbledore ordered Snape to kill him.

    From: [identity profile] emma-took.livejournal.com

i dont know, it just seemed that way lol....it was very sad, i didnt think Dumbledore had actually died i thought it was a trick by Snape and him, but i was wrong!

    From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

But what about the whole book up until the last 100 pages or so? It felt much lighter in tone to me.

    From: [identity profile] emma-took.livejournal.com

yeah, i see that, because there wasnt the whole 'Voldemort is back but no one believes us' stuff...all things evil were more out in the open

    From: [identity profile] melissajane14.livejournal.com

After much reading I agree, mostly because I don't want Snape to be totally evil, I just don't believe he is. Dumbledore always trusted him, and that means something.
