Okay, so now that Serenity has come out and half of my flist seems to be watching it (to the other half I have to ask WHY NOT?!), I've been reading everyone's reactions and people seem to have a lot of questions that Joss answered in the Q&A I went to. So in the interest of further educating people and giving you all insight into Joss's mind:
Joss Whedon Serenity Q&A
It's long, but it's a fascinating read. Joss is great, and it'll answer your questions about death in the movie, about the language, everything you want to know.
I've just been thinking about what a seriously amazing job Nathan does in the movie. The scenes on Haven when he finds Book and then talks to the Operative are just heart-wrenching. Book's death didn't affect me but Mal's reaction nearly had me in tears.
Have fun!

I think my views on Wash's death are more philosophical because I saw Serenity before Firefly. And because I saw it back in April, so you know, nothing's much of a shock anymore ;)
