I just saw Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

This was the FUNNIEST movie I've seen all year. Seriously, EVERYBODY has to see it. I don't think any trailers or single scenes can do it justice, but it just completely sweeps you up in it - it's fun, it's witty, it's funny, it's even scary and suspenseful and you actually end up caring about the characters. Even the girl (Michelle Monaghan, who reminded me of Grey's Anatomy the whole day through. You know, the girl in that show.) The style is fantastically funny - it's narrated by Robert Downey Jr., who wants to be like a Raymond Chandler hard-boiled detective but stops short all the time. Sometimes he rewinds the tape and interjects things, and he talks right to the camera, and it's fantastic. Robert and Val have the best chemistry, it just makes them really fun to watch. Robert's gorgeous in it, but the best part is Val Kilmer as Gay Perry. I LOVE HIM. When I grow up, I wanna be Gay Perry.

And when you think he dies I was SO UPSET! I almost didn't care what happened to Harry and Harmony after that, because I love Gay Perry so much. Other amusing notes: I spent the whole tag scene alternating between being irritated about the tag being up and impressed with the continuity of keeping the tag up; also, the beginning CRACKED ME UP SO HARD. I was almost crying with laughter. "I'm going to be an actress!" Genius, and Robert Downey Jr.'s son played his younger self! Aww. Also, I want to marry the opening credits and make gorgeous icon babies. Or something.

In short, GO SEE THIS MOVIE. It is seriously one of the best movies of the year. Am I the only person with a crush on Dash Mihok? I loved the music video he did with Alanis Morissette, the dancing one. Apparently he dated her.

And the normal posting: Music! Stephen Lynch. Bunches of him.

I loved that movie. Robert was just so perfect in it and omg Gay Perry is my hero. It really hasn't been publicized well at all, and I barely know anyone who's seen it but seriously everyone should. I loved the way it was narrated and how he kept making mistakes and going back in the story. And Harry was just such a buffoon but a lovable buffoon. And I'm rambling... ♥

There need to be icons from that movie. Yes.

So, when I was 10 I had a crush on Robert Downey Jr., because I saw The Pick Up Artist (him and Molly Ringwald). And that crush has lasted my whole life. So here's a story: one day back when I was working at the coffee shop on Sunset, I went in to pick up my paycheck and my friend Ben grabbed me and said "Look over there but don't look like you're looking over there." and motioned towards the end of the counter. Where Robert Downey Jr. was standing. Now, when we were in our uniforms, as Ben was, we were not allowed to ask for autographs, but if we just happened to be there, it was ok. And I gasped, and grabbed Ben's arm and said "OhmyGodI'mgoingtotalktohim!" but as I turned around to do so, he went into the bathroom. So I waited, and then I got nervous and then he passed by me and got his coffee and I died for a minute because he was right next to me and then he went out to the parking lot and Ben complained that it wasn't fair that he couldn't even mention what a huge fan he was and I said "But I can!" and I ran out to the parking lot. By which time RDJ was getting in his car and I didn't want to be that fan who knocked on the window and bothered him so I stood there and pouted at my inability to just say something while he was right next to me all because I was suddenly twelve years old.

So there's my almost meeting Robert Downey Jr. story. Want to hear my Val Kilmer ones? Because he actually came into the coffee shop a lot. And called me 'Sweetheart' every time I saw him. Actually, there's not much else to the Val Kilmer stories beside him being kinda goofy and sweet, and his friend Rio who he always came in with invited me to his (Rio's) private birthday party, which I went to but got there too late to hang out with Val.

I love living in LA. You should move here. You'd appreciate it as much as I do, being an obsessive fan and all.

Oh! Stephen Lynch! He's from the town where I go to school! (Kalamazoo, Michigan). I really have to catch one of his shows when he's in town...

Glad you liked the movie. I was thinking of seeing it...

See, as soon as his phone played "I Will Survive," I knew he'd be ok.

I nearly shat myself when I heard Stephen Lynch sing "Beelz" (that's the title, missus!). It's absolutely hilarious.

Crack addiction doesn't mean bad actor. He is still a damn fine actor. You'll love him in this.

It's gotta be a hard movie to publicise. The studio didn't want to give it a lot of money in the first place, so I'm guessing it was also hard to pitch.

Gay Perry is my hero too!

That song is awesome! Thanks very much :)

Glad you liked the Stephen Lynch songs.

Isn't is just awesome?! It's so much FUN! That's what I really want from a movie - I want a movie that's smart AND entertaining. Just one or the other doesn't cut it for me.

I wonder how many crushes Molly Ringwald created just by starring opposite guys? And dude, Robert Downey Jr. is one of my favourite actors.

See, I knew Val Kilmer was cool. Well, actually, I just really liked him from a long time ago and *hoped* he was cool (I LOVE him in The Doors) but now your story completely confirms it *nods*

I might be moving to Sydney next year. I mean, it's not LA, but it's a start...I'm thinking I might end up moving to LA at some point in my life, but we'll see.

Oh really? That's kinda cool :) You should, he's awesome. And if you get to talk to him tell him some random chick in Australia says hi ;)

You should! Go see it right now!

I just thought that was a gay thing. You know. Like in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
