2. 'The closer we are to danger, the further we are from harm' and the whole cyclical reasoning he uses to get Treebeard to turn around. He and Merry are such a perfect team - Merry knows what's going on but can't figure out how to solve the problem, Pippin doesn't initially know the problem but figures out a way to solve it.
1. Knocking the skeleton into the well. His reaction and Gandalf's are priceless and it's the first time he really understands the consequences of his actions.

2. When I found out he loved Lily. For some reason there's something enormously appealing to me about the thought of Weevil/Lily.
1. Can't help it, can't stop thinking about the scene from last week with Mac and Beaver and the tutoring. I love the tennis court bit.

2. His speech about River in the pilot with all the enunciation and the love and intelligence and humility in his voice.
1. His shirtless back in Serenity. I almost stood up and applauded.
Man, that was the easiest one I've done so far.

2. Band Candy. Ripper is so sexy and yet has that slight dorky edge to him that makes you think he could be Giles, our Giles, in the future. Trying just that bit too hard when he's cool already, you know?
1. The whole of Passion, he killed me in Passion. That episode nearly made me cry and remains one of my favourites.
I seem to like dark!Giles. Who knew?

Also, the killing Ben scene was actually the scene I was thinking of when I brought him up. Because that was hands down my favorite thing that happened in seasons five.
And so very seconded on Passion, because it's such a good episode, but it's one of those ones that I can't actually watch very often because it hurts so much.

The killing Ben scene came really, really close to making it, but I do prefer the earlier seasons. And I still laugh just seeing Giles in the hat.
Passion was also one of the only times I was really, truly *impressed* with David Boreanaz. The whole episode was moving and scary and so very true, I think.
From:

...David Boreanaz's betterness in that episode aside, I still can't stand his voiceovers in it. The man just should not do voiceovers. Ever. But he was a lot better at emoting when he was evil.
From:
no subject
Oh no, agree, but then most people suck at voiceovers.
I think, to be honest, that it was more Angel's character than Boreanaz's acting skills that needed some work. He was just...boring. When Boreanaz is given something interesting to do he tends to do a lot better.

Even Veronica Mars!
You mean the way he had no real character beyond "I am old. And emo. And I used to kill people. Hi Buffy let's gaze longingly at each other"?

Word. They complement each other wonderfully.

Yeah, but her voiceovers are funny.
Partly that. Also that most of his 'funny' moments on Angel weren't so funny and he never actually developed as a character until season 5 of his own show when he had Spike making him question his own righteousness. He was much more interesting then.
In fact, Angel was always more interesting in scenes with Spike.

But indeed Sam & Dean & cages...mmmmmm. Or just Sam & Dean in general...mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

3. The orange peel smile in your icon. I immediately liked him because he was weird and left of centre, with the scar and the bald head and silly smile. Unsettling.
2. Encouraging Jack to let him go with the monster. There's something about the desperation and the faith and trust in that moment. I remember thinking how amazing Terry O'Quinn is during that scene.
1. Walkabout is a genius episode, from badass!Locke to wheelchair!Locke and box company!Locke. Frustration, freedom, self-discovery, all played out perfectly in metaphor and on Terry O'Quinn's face. Somehow Locke can never quite live up to the promise of that episode.
Of course I'm biased because now I find him to be a sanctimonious bastard who's desperate enough to be very disquieting. He's the guy most likely to save them all but also the guy most likely to completely lose it and kill everybody on the island because it told him to.

3. Putting her elbow in the butter dish. I adore little, awkward Ginny, and I love that the ONLY person who saw her do that was the one person she was more worried about.
2. It's not really a moment, but I love that she used to sneak into the broom shed to practice Quidditch when nobody was paying attention. She has so much in common with Fred & George, she's like their understudy or something.
1. I LOVE her smacking Harry down in OotP when he's feeling all sorry for himself thinking he's been possessed by telling him she's BEEN possessed, thankyou very much, and why didn't he just ASK her about it. I don't actually mind emo!Harry in OotP because hell, it's realistic and he'd been through a lot, but I still think that was a great moment.
I love Bonnie Wright, I think she's gorgeous.

3. Oh yes, I definitely know that face. It's hilarious and I love it.
2. Yeah, that part made me wish I had a brother. It touched me...and I didn't mean for that to sound as tacky as it did.
1. Oh sweet heavens yes!! Best scene ever.
Glad it was easy! I almost went with Neville but Simon was calling out to me.

2. 'They don't like it when you shoot at them. Figured that one out myself.' and 'we are just too pretty for God to let us die.' I love the old, ideological Mal and that one moment in the pilot when he's looking out at the battlefield and you see that just die in him. Depressing, but amazing.
1. Pretty much everything he did in War Stories, but I particularly love him keeping Wash awake by making him mad. It's so quintessentially Mal: funny and loyal and kinda broken enough that he doesn't care that he's in so much pain himself. Honorary mention for this:
Zoe: 'This is something the captain has to do for himself.'
Mal: 'No it's not!'
I have been waiting for this to happen in a movie or TV show for YEARS.
Uh, also when he bought the ship, and thinking being naked at the end of a job doesn't count as it going badly, and when he shot the Operative after the guy said he was unarmed, and the whole Serenity misbehaving speech, and his 'Everyone's rich and happy here, why wouldn't they smile?' about people on Alliance planets, and when he spun Kaylee around and hugged her at the end of that episode, and 'we're still flying, makes it a good day in my book.'
I love Mal.

3. 'At last, we can retire and give up this life of crime,' because that's when I decided I loved her (I saw Serenity before Firefly.) She has the dryest sense of humour and it's always SO funny.
2. I love when she cooked Wash dinner in 'War Stories.' I mean, that whole episode is fantastic for her character (the fight, choosing Wash, the badass two-gun shooting) but that kind of shows that she's not just a soldier, she's also a lover and a wife. That's what's so great about Zoe, she's got that femininity and she's not just a one-sided character.
1. Shooting the guy lying on her back after being shot, with that big rifle. One of the best Firefly moments ever, hands down.
Special mentions: beating on the reaver after Wash died, 'big damn heroes,' 'thanks for the re-enactment,' 'thankyou for saying, sir,' being interviewed by Doug Savant in Bushwhacked, 'we live in a space ship dear.' SO MANY. Also, when I think of Serenity the iconic image in my mind is of soldier!Zoe with her gun out going around corners on Miranda while the others sort of loiter.

2. The hat. 'How's it sit? Pretty cunning, doncha think?'
1. 'I'll be in my bunk.' That whole scene, including the way he eats his apples.
Uh, tied for 1: Jaynestown. The whole thing, from being scared and wearing the stupid costume to discovering he was a hero, embracing it and rejecting it. Genius.
Runners-up: freaking out when Simon starts saying the safeword in 'Serenity', 'She's in Congress,' his betrayal in Ariel and being held in the lock by Mal ('don't tell them what I did'), 'Pain is scary.'

3. Her flashback scenes with Tom. Because Tom is Mackenzie Astin and I love Mack.
2. Finding the hanging hobbit and her reactions. Evangeline completely sold that scene, she was amazing in it.
1. I kinda loved her robbing the bank, that was pretty bad-ass, including the way she used the 'boyfriend.' I kinda miss that Kate.

2. The only person to jump Sawyer's bones. Only question is what took her so long?
1. I want to say all of 'The Other 48 Days' because I think she was mostly a good leader, but I'm going to go with two scenes: throwing the wrong guy in the pit and breaking down by the river. I really liked that she took action in order to at least try to flush out the mole, and her crying showed that she is, in fact, human.

3. Sitting in the car crying after Abel Koontz said Keith wasn't her father, that was such a good emotional moment.
2. Pwning that guy who picked on the girl with the dog. I can't remember their names, but the guy she shook the hand of saying he was the biggest asshole on the planet. That was the best Veronica pwnage ever.
1. 'Flat?'
'Just as God made me.' That line kind of sold me in the series.
Logan
3. The most uncomfortable scene ever - Logan, Duncan, Veronica and Kendall Casablancas. 'My word is Endurance.' That scene killed me.
2. Making out with Veronica in the bathroom in M.A.D. So hot.
1. Breaking down in 'Russkie Business' when he finally realises his mother is dead. I know, it's cliched and it's when EVERYBODY fell for Logan but I can't help it. That's the moment.
Honorary mention to using and then falling for Hannah, I really enjoyed that whole arc.
Dick
3. Hitting on Madison at the alterna-prom and then switching to Veronica with absolutely no hesitation, totally undeterred.
2. 'Just because you wiggle your finger doesn't mean Dick's going to come.'
1. Playing video games with Logan. 'I'm going to rip out your spine and then show it to you. How does that sound?'
It was hard to pick three for Dick because he's pretty much funny every time he opens his mouth.

Veronica 'not blending in' at the gamer club.
Dick's Brokeback Mountain scene. 'It's not me, it's Wu.' SO MUCH LOVE.
From:

2. 'I made a promise, Mr. Frodo. "Don't you leave him, Samwise Gamgee." And I don't mean to.' I didn't want the movie to end!
1. 'I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.' That line still chokes me up after all this time. Killed me in the book, killed me in the movie, because that's the essence of Sam's character: that single-minded loyalty.

Bonnie Wright is definitely gorgeous, and I absolutely love how strong Ginny is becoming, I can't wait to see what she does in the next book.
