GIP: Because he is.

So, [livejournal.com profile] truffle_shuffle is trying to watch 100 movies she hasn't seen before this year, and I reckon that's a good idea. I'm gonna try for the same thing. Chicken Little was one. Today, I saw The Producers. That makes two.

OMG that movie had me practically wetting myself cracking up. It's so funny! And Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick are just gorgeous together. At first Matthew was really freaking me out (and he's no Gene Wilder, sadly) but I definitely warmed up to him before the end. And who knew he could dance so damn well? I think it's gotta be Will Ferrell's best role to date (he is SO funny in this and watching him singing and dancing is a hoot) and Mel Brooks is just so fucking funny it hurts.

I think they should've cut it down in length just a little, though - it's over 2 hours long, which is kind of pushing it.

Awww!

Chicken Little: 5 out of 10
The Producers: 7 out of 10

What it says about me:

I'm a realist I'm direct, enjoy playing devil's advocate and neither fear nor avoid discussions. I am emotional and naive, care little for details and am a risk-taker. I'm a good listener. And according to the size of my pig's tail, I have a great sex life. Lying, squealy sonofabitch.

ETA2: SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2 EP 9 OF LOST!!!!!

So, yeah, the Kate/Sawyer kiss was SO much hotter than the Kate/Jack kiss. Neither is hotter than Jin. Hot DAMN. And sad Sayid makes me wibble :'(

It's like a Nazi hodown

Which did you prefer? This one or the original? I am a bit of a fan of the original & vvv worried about going to see this one...

I preferred this one, actually, because the musical numbers are great and I just have a lot of difficulty watchign Zero Mostel. Nathan Lane's much more likeable. I also thought it was funnier in a laugh-out-loud way.

But the original did have the Gene Wilder factor. I love love love Gene Wilder. Matthew Broderick, bondiggetty dancer though he may be, has nothing on Gene Wilder.

Oh I LOVED Gene Wilder in the original! But I enjoyed this one too. A lot of laughs...and I yeah, Will Ferrell I have to say is the funniest part. I completely understand why he has a Golden Globe nomination. Fantastic! Broderick and Lane are a great duo...I wish I could go see The Odd Couple with them.

The new version hasn't been released here yet, but I'm really looking forward to it. And you're right, Matthew Broderick is no Gene, sadly, but omg Nathan Lane ♥

What role is Will Ferrel playing?

Interesting.

I love Gene as well, in a the-fire-of-a-ten-thousand-suns kind of way.

Thank you very much! ♥

Matthew really isn't that bad, though. He sings and dances REALLY well, and he's definitely the best person to play opposite Nathan Lane.

He plays the writer of the play. He's SO FUNNY.

Yeah, I can see how Matthew is the best choice for this version (I have the soundtrack and the documentary of its recording, and I really love what I've seen of his Leo so far and how perfectly he complements Nathan's Max), but my love for Gene and his puppy eyes will make him the ultimate Leo Bloom for me.

This movie will only arrive in Portugal in March, so it's going to take ages to see Will playing Franz. So not fair. *pouts*

Yes, on the dancing - but, funny? For some reason, it just didn't click for me. But the original Producers? Great! *G*

(funny, I thought you meant you were going to try to watch 100 movies TODAY! *meep*)
