I didn't tell you all why I was so hungover the other day or what happened at Cirque du Soleil, so as they're related, what happened:
Melissa and I went to Cirque du Soleil and got to go to the VIP tent (the Tapis Rouge), which was awesome and surreal. It caters to the rich and I'd never really experience that before. The food was AMAZING, there was free alcohol, and the merchandise in there cost as much as I make in three weeks. The show itself was beautiful but I didn't really get the plot, which hampered my enjoyment of the show, because I'm picky.
Afterwards we discovered that with our special tickets we could go to the AFTERPARTY. We partied with circus folk and this is where things get fuzzy. Fuzzy enough to leave the rest out, I think.
Meanwhile, I can't believe I didn't get an icon in on time for
lotr_lims this week. I missed the warning comment and went to make one tonight and discovered I was too late. Woe.
The Impossible Quiz. I made it to round 66.
Pretty icons from Firefly episode 'The Message'.
Hayden & Milo with the Stanley Cup.
Tonight I saw A Prairie Home Companion
I've developed a fairly intellectual interest in Altman based on the films that I've seen of his so far, but I don't think I've ever actually enjoyed a film quite as much as this one before. It had a few film conceits that were a bit odd, but being more used to Altman now they didn't really distract me from anything and I felt like it was a really fun movie. It gives the audience the feeling that the cast were having fun, but without it devolving into silliness and in-jokes (Ocean's Twelve, anyone?) That being said, I didn't find it as intellectually stimulating as the other films of Altman's I've seen. His preoccupation with death is also evident throughout the movie (little surprise there, considering) but it's more of a positive outlook, really. Kevin Kline is hilarious, as are Woody Harrelson and John C. Reilly (their 'Bad Jokes' scene is the highlight of the movie), and is there anything Meryl Streep can't do?
