Get To Know Your F-List Week!
Every day I'll ask two random questions. All you have to do is answer them!
Day Three
1. Have you ever had this idea in your head that you hated or loved something, only to rediscover it later in life and find out that all your ideas about it were wrong? What was it?
2. Do you have a type?
1. I do this all the time. It's not so much making an assumption about something as hearing or seeing or tasting it once and then getting it into my head that it's something completely different to what it is. I saw a White Stripes music video (One Nation Army, I think) on TV and for some reason it caused me to believe that I hated The White Stripes for over a year. I also thought their style of music was completely different to what it is. I don't even actually dislike the song, so I don't know how I managed to convince myself of that.
Also, I thought I hated sour cream for years until I discovered I once accidentally ate horseradish instead.
2. I sort of have a type. I like short guys who make me laugh. I also like tall guys who make me laugh, but I tend to be slightly more attracted to short guys. Then again, judging by my lust list my type is...diverse.
Also, does anyone know who these kissing boys are?

_skulking_'s inquiring mind would like to know.

And I couldn't. I mean. I liked Apollo 13. It was good, but I wouldn't call it great...
The DaVinci code was a serviceable adaptation that screwed up the ending... Beautiful Mind was okay... The Grinch? Willow's considered a classic but I honestly don't remember much about it and haven't seen it in YEARS.
So, yeah. I don't put him up on a pedestal anymore.

2. Like you, my lust list is diverse. But the one thing that ALWAYS gets me is goth/punk. Suicide Girls (http://www.suicidegirls.com) (NSFW) is my favorite place on the planet. OMG.
Tattoos? Piercings? Dark hair/clothes.
Yeah...

LOL sounds like a type!

2. My type is diverse too. And some people find it uncommon. I guess it's because I like hobbits or Nathan Fillion or Zach Braff more than the usual pretty boys. Funny >>> Pretty. I tend to find people I like attractive rather than liking people because they're attractive. Do I even make sense?

My favourite thing about Ron Howard is the narration in Arrested Development lol

That makes sense! I tend not to like guys on looks alone, even famous ones, I have to like their personalities.

Yes, and I also enjoy the Asians.
Yunjin ftw!

I also thought I wouldn't like Buffy because it's not advertised as a smart show here.
Sometimes it's good to be wrong!
Another prejudice I hate: morons thinking American TV and movies are dumb and only with special effects *sigh* Stupid "elitist" self-centered morons.

2. Physically, I like my men to be bigger than I am, either taller or more stocky or both. He does have to have a sense of humor and be willing to laugh at himself. For women, I like someone not too much bigger than I am or smaller. Again, a sense of humor is a must.

2. I don't think I so much have a physical type as much as it is really important to me that a guy have a really good sense of humor. I know that sounds cliche, but it's important to me. :)

2. In time I've realized I do. I love tall/thin guys, short hair, pretty hands (this is VERY important) and a big or particular nose. I love noses, for some reason, and I've realized all the guys I've liked have pretty noses (in real life and in fandom life, I guess).

2. It's not really a type so much, but I like guys who are not handsome in the traditional sense. Example: I really don't find Orlando Bloom all that attractive, but I would screw Jack Black without giving it a second thought. Yeah, I'm awesome like that. :)
Oh, and I'm also partial to guys who can pull off long hair and eyeliner.

2. Funny guys > all. Looks aren't that important to me. I'm more attracted to someone who isn't considered a pretty boy, but is incredibly funny, rather than someone who is a pretty boy and has no sense of humor. I'm also more attracted to guys who are comfortable just wearing jeans and a t-shirt. I don't go for preps.

2. Elements of my type: Wicked smart, makes me laugh, can play an instrument, is a decent singer, knows more than one language, has dark hair and a nice smile, has technological know-how, knows a lot about history, appreciates nerdy stuff like musical theater and art museums, enjoys the music I enjoy, is actively creative and pursues a creative occupation, is a risk-taker, loves to learn, yearns to travel, reads, likes to dance, likes when I do the driving, can cook (at least a few things very well), is referencial, is nice to waitstaff and other people in a service industry (this is VERY important), is a happy or mellow drunk (also VERY important), is giving of his time to help others, is giving with money but not to the point of getting into debt or being a push-over, is nice to his mother, is passionate about his interests (but not to the point of creepy) and feels the same about me. Is that enough? Some is preference, some just good advice.

I used to hate The Simpsons with a passion when I was in grade 5, 6 and then rediscovered it later and wondered why because those early seasons were so good. I also tend to hate certain groups/bands based on their first single, and so I don't listen to them. That happened with McFly and then later on I decided to listen to some of their other songs and loved them.
2. Do you have a type
I used to deny it, but I definitely have a thing for "pretty boys". Though if they don't have a sense of humour and can't hold an intelligent conversation that doesn't really matter. Mostly any guy who's taller than me (which isn't hard since I'm only 5 feet tall) who has a sense of humour and is intelligent enough to discuss things with.

In fandom, I told myself I'd never watch One Tree Hill or life as we know it. I got lucky with lawki when it was recommended to me, turned out to be a great show. OTH is just a big 'ol guilty pleasure. But I don't think I'll watch the two mor erecent seasons. Some murderous kid trying to kill Peyton all horror movie style ON A TEEN DRAMA WHAT!?!!? Oh and also, after being a big fan of The Office UK, I didn't want to ever see the US version. And now I love it just as much. :)
2. Not really. I use to, but after meeting such diverse people, I find that there's no way I could have a type. Maybe just..."pretty boys"? heh I don't know.
Those boys are adorable. Just looks like some myspace pic?

2. While I don't know if I have a "type" per se, I have noticed that I'm more attracted to dark haired guys than I am anything else. Other than that, no type.
From:

2. I tend to go for the tall, geeky, messed up hair, class clown type of guy. But there are always exceptions to the rule... generally geek + humour makes me happy.

There was a time that I wouldn't watch them...I just didn't like them. And now...I love them.
2. I don't know...If I type up a lust list it would be diverse as well. Most of them seem to have something in common though...they're eccentric in someway...so maybe that's my type. :)
And...that picture...it almost looks like Elijah Wood and Dominic...lol

The only thing I can think of is that I was absolutely sure that Buffy was a cheesy, crappy, stupid show based solely on the name alone. I refused to watch it. And then one night I did, and by the time the opening credits ran, I knew how wrong I was.
2. Do you have a type?
Yes. Definitely. In basic terms, I like boys that are prettier than I am. LOL. Also, tall, skinny, with nice shoulders, good hair, nice teeth, and pretty eyes.

2. No... maybe.... no... I once thought tall, yet Milo Ventimiglia is only 5.9"... David Duchovny, Milo Ventimglia, Tony Leung, Lucas Black, Sean Patrick Flannery, Bruce Willis... um, no type.
From:

2. Physically I don't really have a type. I just don't like guys with extremely long hair which means if the hair goes over the shoulder it's too much. I also hate chest hair. When it comes to personality I would say that he has to be funny, sweet, intelligent...just what everyone else already mentioned I guess.

1. Star Wars - the original trilogy - my sister went through a phase of obsessively watching them, all. the. time (i mean that, like every day). So I flat out refused to see them, for YEARS, because of that. and then i finally did when i was about..er.. i dunno, 13? 14? and really enjoyed them.
although I now re-watch them and find them crap, so go figure.
2. I do have a type, but the guy I'm with doesn't really fit into it... heh. I tend to fall for artistic types, musicians, actors, comedians, artists... and especially mixes of all of the above (i.e Jonny Woodward, Chris Lowell, Steven "Gatesy" Gates etc...)

2. I don't know what you're talking about, I don't have a type
Tall, intelligent, glasses, nice smile, blue eyes, adventurous, calming (I need someone to balance me out!)

2. Bad boys. Bad bad bad bad boys. Boys I can't have. That's my type. My type are the unattainable bad boys. Once a man starts having interest in me, I'm not attracted anymore. Basically, any guy that tends to go against the rules, whether it be rocker, punk, biker. Just someone bad for me. hehe
(Actually, I've still never heard the White Stripes. I have this idea that they are kind of indie alternative, and I'm not sure if I like that style that completely. Huh.)

2 - I'm like you, my type is completely varied. The guy im with now is the complete oppostite to what my original 'type' was. Yet Ive fallen harder for him than anyone else so maybe its a case that my 'type' is lust driven, but that the person I love is so much more than physical appearances...

Other than hating liver as a child and loving it now, nope. There are convictions I held earlier in life due to my upbringing that I've since abandoned (Thanks the Gods!), but that's typical. The closest thing to hated/now love would be the movie Imitation of Life (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imitation_of_Life_%281959_film%29). I could never understand why it made my mom cry every time she watched it, and I hated it until I was 26 or so. I enjoy the movie now, and understand how powerful it is in showing the things we give up to pursue a false happiness.
2. Do you have a type?
Taller than me, expressive eyes, great smile & laugh, intelligent, funny, fitter than me* , loves music, books, nature, philosophy, and can handle my fandom loves.
*yes, I know I'm shallow, but most guys fit that anyway! I just want the person to be able to encourage me rather than pull me down - no "feeders" (http://blog.simmons.de/index.php?itemid=10)allowed, either!

2) Definitely thin rocker guys. I love the long hair, the tattoos, the piercings, the chains. I also have a weakness for 'good ol boys' ala Josh Holloway.

2. I would like guys who are witty. Kind-hearted and open-minded. The height isn't too much of an issue, but not too tall (kind of make the kissing hard to do ;) ).

The colour yellow: I have really dark hair and really pale skin so I thought I couldn't wear it because it would make me look like a bee. It actually looks quite nice on!
Friends: When the show first started I was convinced that I was going to hate it, so I actively avoided it for the first season. Once I actually watched an episode I realised that I loved it and felt really stupid!
Soy milk: My mother used to make us drink soy milk when we were younger, but she must have bought a really gross brand. I recently discovered that I'm lactose intolerant, so I had to go back to soy milk. The good news is that I've found a really good brand! It doesn't taste like real milk, but it doesn't taste like disgusting either...
2. I've got a real thing for eyes, smiles and hands. I think physically, as long as they've got those nothing else really matters (but it really helps if he's taller than me). As far as what's inside goes, I'm pretty picky: intelligent, funny, kind - I like me some Nice Guys
