Okay, I owe you all an incredible post to at least attempt to do justice to the incredible experience I had this morning, but I am exhausted beyond belief and still reeling and so I don't know how well I'll manage.
So at about 1 a.m yesterday (which is almost 24 hours ago as I'm typing) I read this post of![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
sassywitch's saying that Dom was going to be on Sunrise the next morning. At first I was bummed out because I was convinced I couldn't go - I had $100 in all the world, and it was the middle of the night. But I started thinking, well, why can't I go? I'm young and spontaneous and have loads of family and friends in Sydney if I get stuck. Then truffle_shuffle convinced me to go, so I found out where Sunrise was shot, wrote out directions, grabbed my bag (but NOT my Lost t-shirt or anything for Dom to sign, BECAUSE I AM DEEPLY STUPID), called Mitchell and said 'How do you feel about playing hooky from uni and going on a road trip to Sydney in the middle of the night?' and he went 'Okay!' Bless him, it was really wonderful of him - I don't know if I could've done it without him, he stopped me from getting lost AND I have no music in my car, so the drive would've been hell. I have really great friends.
I let my sister and mother know (they informed me rather sleepily that I am insane) and took off. I had to fill the car with petrol (at 1:45 am, with the window frozen over and my hands nearly falling off from the below-zero centigrade temperature.) I went to get Mitchell and off we went!
We made REALLY good time (less than 3 hours on a 3 1/2 hour drive) but got lost driving around Sydney's streets and arrived at Seven's studios at just after 6 am. In the car on the way Mitchell had made signs, so we took a photo outside the Sunrise studio holding them up:
I don't normally smile like that, but it was FREEEEEEZING. We were out there for 4 hours in the cold, too. I hadn't had time to shower or even brush my hair before I left home, so I looked pretty gross. We met up with a few other fans over the course of the morning: a mother with three daughters, all Lost fans; two teenage boys who were really sweet and friendly, one of whom refused to wear a jacket over his Lost t-shirt to show his dedication to the Lost cause; a group of three girls who got to see Dom going in; andshowbiz, who's adorable and really sweet too.
The very nice security people told us Dom was indeed going to be inside later, though how and when he was getting in they didn't know. We waited around for a while, and held up our signs, until eventually the hosts (Kochie and...Nat?):
came out to talk to us, and they interviewed me on camera! I told them about how we'd left at 1:30 am, that I was a Lost and LotR fan, and then they asked me what I thought would our lot should do to The Others. My mind, of course, was a total blank, so I ended up accidentally spoiling everybody saying that I thought 'they might blow them up.' Yeah, smooth, Green Queen. They interviewed Very Cold Boy next, and he said they should join The Others, which I thought was a much better answer. Kochie was actually pretty cool.
We watched from outside when Dom was on, and you can see what my vantage point was like from these nifty photos:

That's him waving to the other group of fans, who were looking through another gap in the walls. He waved at us, too, but they didn't photograph that.
I tried to listen to the interview but I only caught snippets: that the Lost cast is like a 'kinship' (yes, I thought 'not like a fellowship?'), that IF he leaves Lost (we're a bit behind) he'll miss surfing, and that he considers himself a journeyman actor; I have a feeling he didn't say much I haven't heard before.
We went around the front to wait a little longer, and we were informed Dom would be coming out to see us! We had to queue around the ramp leading to the door. Then he came out, and my brain leaked out my ears, because he looked SO HOT and I adore him and it was DOM and he was RIGHT THERE. Usually you can't tell size from pictures etc. but Dom was actually pretty much exactly the size I thought he'd be. He was up on a ramp, though. He was wearing a jacket and shirt I'd actually never seen before (the jacket looks similar to another of his with pinstripes, but it's a different material) and his SPARKLY JEANS OMG.
He talked to the mother & girls first:
AND THEN IT WAS MY TURN. He said hi and I shook his hand, and he said 'you came from Canberra? How far is that?' and I told him it was a three-and-a-half hour drive (but skipped the part where we made it in less than 3) and that I'd left at 1:30 am. I was very distracted by his beautiful round blue eyes crinkling at the edges as he looked at me, and his adorable ears, and his COLD NOSE WTF RACHEL, and that it was Dom's voice coming out of Dom's mouth RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF ME. We asked him to autograph our 'We ♥ Dom' sign, and he said 'I feel like I should be doing more for you, since you came all this way.' AND I DIED.

THAT'S HIM SAYING HE WISHED HE COULD DO MORE.
Mitchell asked for our photo, so we got into position:
After the photo I was all ready to ask for a hug, BUT DOM PREEMPTED ME! He said 'Give me a hug' and I was thinking 'Well, all right, IF YOU INSIST, omg' but I didn't say it out loud. I thought it'd be a regular celebrity-fan hug - you know, 'hug, pat pat, let go' so after he patted my back I started to move back AND HE HELD ON. AND KEPT HUGGING ME FOR, LIKE, EVER. Or maybe 10 seconds, IDK. And he smelled good and he was a wonderful, wonderful hugger.
(I know, my hair is AWFUL. Nothing could be done. Also, the position was awkward and I had things in my hand - you can't tell but I DO have my other arm around him.) He let go and smiled at me and said 'Thank you so much for coming all this way' and I squeaked out a thankyou and then he moved on to the next people in line. I stuck around to take photos.

He waved at us all and said thankyou a few times, BECAUSE HE IS THE SWEETEST THING EVER, and then got in his car and left.
We found out that Evi was going to be on the next program, so we stuck around to see her. Mitchell and I made more signs, and we all hung around outside together. A HUGE group of kids rocked up then to see the hosts (wtf, who cares?) and one of the hosts asked the fans who'd been there earlier, including me, about what kind of questions we would want to ask Evi. I said I'd want to know if her husband was coming back :D Nobody got to talk to Evi going in, and she waved to us from inside before being interviewed. She's gorgeous. If you look REALLY CLOSELY in the Getty images of her on the show you can sorta see one of our signs. The security and show people led us to believe Evi would come out and sign like Dom did so we waited around for ages before they informed us that she'd actually left the back way. I wasn't upset at all, I had no idea that she was even going to be there and I'd gone for Dom. She was in a hurry, and I think she was probably a little overwhelmed, because the schoolkids were all peering in the window when she was interviewed (even though they didn't stick around to try to get autographs.)

Then Mitchell and I got in the car and began the long and arduous journey home - we got VERY lost trying to get out of the city, and I was nearly falling asleep before we stopped at McDonald's.
SO WORTH SPENDING ALL MY MONEY, DRIVING FOR 7 1/2 HOURS AND GETTING NO SLEEP FOR AGES. DOM!
I just want to say, thankyou SO MUCH to everybody who sent me good luck when I posted that I was going to Sydney, and everybody who left me congratulatory messages when I posted the photo. I KNOW you all know what it means to me and I'm really touched that you were all so excited for me. (Jealous of me works too. I'd be jealous of me if I weren't...me.) Also, you can take all my pictures if you really want them, and don't worry about credit. I figure it's too late to worry about my face all over the internet if the pictures are up at Getty :p

Ok, so I'm not the hugest Dom fan (*prepares to be stoned*) but that is seriously awesome that you met him and he was so nice. Yay you! :)
