Anyone know where I can find some good Torchwood icons?

There's stuff all over the place about the new Supernatural characters, they're pushing them really hard this time. There's some pictures and interviews here and video links here. Okay, I'll admit it, with the altered character description making her look like a British antagonist AND a mercenary, and with how pretty and unboring she looks, Lauren Cohan/Bela is starting to grow on me. Ruby still smacks of bad Mary Sue, though - THAT GIRL is supposed to be a better hunter than Dean and Sam?

In the same vein as AfterEllen's hot 100 girls list, AfterElton's Hot 100 Men. And again, does better than the straight lists usually do. I mean, hello, of course Jake is the sexiest major star. Also, GALE HAROLD! And Gael, guh. Not happy that Welling scored higher than Jensen & Paddywhack, though. Most of the Heroes are on there, but no Masi :( And, at 99 and just scarping in, SETH GREEN.

[livejournal.com profile] ack_attack made totally awesome Deathly Hallows quote icons, and so did [livejournal.com profile] phuck, here. They are, of course, HIGHLY spoilery. Rachel also made a poll about naming the kids. Personally, I think Albus Severus is much worse. Scorpius is just carrying on the family tradition.

How did Dumbledore know the plan for moving Harry? If he'd told the Order what to do before he died, Snape would've been in on it and they'd have had to change the whole plan. Does he have a portrait somewhere?

Why didn't the trio summon Kreacher while starving and miserable on the run? He could cook for them at least.

Why don't we find out about Luna? Feels like an oversight. Also, what did everyone DO? Surely their lives weren't defined solely by how many clones of pre-existing characters they were able to produce? The only person who seems to have landed themselves a job is Neville. I suppose we all knew Neville was the most awesome, though.

I never really liked Dumbledore as much as everybody else seemed to, and this book didn't make me like him any more or less than I did already. He's always struck me as a bit distant and occasionally callous, as overly intelligent people tend to do. The backstory was interesting, but not earth-moving.

OK, this is a list of complaints. I actually quite like the book (did I mention the Silver Doe scene yet? Because OMG. And NEVILLE!) but these things have been bugging me.

IN HI-RES. Can't wait to see this. Is it just me, or does James Marsters look hike he's doing his best Blue Steel? He poses like Zoolander a lot, actually.

"How did Dumbledore know the plan for moving Harry? If he'd told the Order what to do before he died, Snape would've been in on it and they'd have had to change the whole plan. Does he have a portrait somewhere?"

Didn't snape find out from mundungus and confound him to make him suggest multiple harries? also, there is a dumbledore portrait in the headmasters at hogwarts office.

"Why didn't the trio summon Kreacher while starving and miserable on the run? He could cook for them at least."

They sorta explained this because they gave up the secret of the house to a death eater and they didn't know if they summoned kreacher if someone might come with him.

"Why don't we find out about Luna? Feels like an oversight. Also, what did everyone DO? I assume she left this open either a.) so we could fanfic whatever we wanted and not have canon-wank or b.) spin-offs.

I'm hoping for b.)

Hello, Photoshop in that torchwood promo! Haha. I can't wait either. :)

Word on Dumbledore. I feel the same way.

Mmm, interesting question. I'm like... inside a bubble and can't think. There's a portrait in the Headmaster's office, maybe McGoogles talked to him? It's the only thing I can think of right now.

I wondered if Harry would end up at Hogwarts teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts because of the whole DA thing and also becuse it was mentioned that Hogwarts was his first real home, or something along those lines. But obviously with his family and being married, he's not a teacher..but yeah, I wonder what they all ended up doing. But that's kind of the fun, not knowing. I definitely picture Ginny being a stay at home mom though, like her mom.

Snape Confunded Mundungus to suggest the multiple Harrys after Snape discussed the plan with Dumbledore's portrait in his new office. How did Dumbledore or Snape know the plan before Confunding Dung? Did Dung let slip to Snape earlier than that? If so, it isn't mentioned in the book.

So the Death Eater was holding on to Kreacher all year?! That's a devoted Death Eater. LOL.

Thanks for the pimp!

Personally, I think Scorpius is a horrid name, but it just fits that Draco would name his child that. Albus Severus is just silly.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Oh, I agree, Scorpius is a hideous name. But it doesn't strike me as patently ridiculous, given Scorpius's family heritage, as Albus Severus does.

Dumbledore had a portrait in the Headmaster's office. And I'm pretty sure in that memory, Snape is getting instructions from the portrait.

I feel we were completely ripped off with that epilogue. It's the only thing about the book that I didn't love (well, that and Lupin's assy behavior).

James Marsters can't help doing Blue Steel. LOL He's just made that way!

I actually like Scorpius WAY better than Albus Severus. I'm just having a hard time getting behind Harry respecting Snape that much after everything awful that he did and said to Harry. But I'll get into that later when I've gathered all my thoughts about Snape.

I think they were just worried that they could never be sure whether or not someone was holding onto him, or put some sort of spell on him so that he could be followed if he was summoned, or something.

From: [identity profile] speakerwiggin.livejournal.com

Technically they could have had this plan all along, to move harry to safe house when the protections were broken. Then they could have changed it AFTER snape left, but before Dumbleedore died.

No, I don't think there was a death eater hanging on all year, but they had no way of knowing if he was by himself and or under the imperius curse. (Can you put a house elf under the imperius curse?)

Glad you enjoyed the Torchwood pic so much that you re-posted it. ;)

I agree, but then I also thought: Albus Severus was.. 11? I think. If it was 19 years later, that means they names the child 8 years after Snape died. Even with all the horrible stuff Snape did, I can understand the *idea* behind it, because you get over things in that amount of time.. and then by the time Harry says those things in the epilogue, it is 19 years later. At least it isn't like.. 2 weeks after the battle or something. Though, I still hated the epilogue. And that they named their child Albus Severus.

From: [identity profile] truffle-shuffle.livejournal.com

I can see your point, sure. But when did Harry stop blaming Snape for Sirius' death? Or for, like, torturing him incessantly for 6 years? I understand getting over certain things with time, but being abused by someone mercilessly doesn't seem like one that is easily forgiven, and certainly not one that allows naming a child after that person. Or maybe I'm just thinking WAY too much into it. lol

Albus Severus is an AWFUL name.

Let's hope JK Rowling will continue to answer questions on her website, and that she'll explain the fates of everybody missing from the epilogue. I really want to know about Luna.

From: [identity profile] phuck.livejournal.com

I'm pretty sure Harry blames Harry for Sirius' death.. and after all is said and done (and I'm not a Snape supporter), besides the obvious grudge and not doing any favors for Harry.. ever.. I wouldn't consider it torture. What Umbridge did was torture.

From: [identity profile] truffle-shuffle.livejournal.com

Well, yeah, when you compare it to Umbridge, Snape was a kitten. But he was verbally abusive, which to a kid is a little like torture...just not physical torture. Snape was just nasty on purpose to Harry, but also to the Gryffindors in general, I suppose.

From: [identity profile] stufsocker.livejournal.com

1. Dumbledore’s portrait was hung behind the headmaster’s desk.
2. They didn’t call Kreacher thinking that a Death Eater could have hold of him at any given moment, and that calling him could alert them to their whereabouts.
3. I also want to know about Luna, goshdarnit!

From: [identity profile] stufsocker.livejournal.com

Also, isn't it possible that Snape was so crummy to Harry because Dumbledore had shared with him the idea that Voldemort probably had Horcruxes and that thinking that he could come back he needed to keep up the appearence of hating Harry? Not to mention that Harry was a constant reminder of how Snape lost the only person he ever really loved? That's gotta be pretty rough. The fact that Snape did things like throw himself between Lupin transformed and Harry led me to believe that he didn't really hate the kid. He just had a lifetime of sadness and regret to push down, and perhaps he turned to anger instead of having to feel the real emotions that got to him.
Yea, I've always been interested in Snape as a character. The ones like him are always most intriguing.
