I love fanfiction. Where else can you read het between a guy and a guy-turned-into-a-girl? Brilliant. Also, just so you know? Coding doesn't work in Facebook comments *nods wisely*

I didn't participate for a number of reasons, but you know what really struck me about the Blog Against Racism week recently? I'm surprised by the way that racism, for almost every American I saw a post by, refers almost solely to the oppression of black Americans by white Americans. Racism between any other races was almost completely ignored.

Lost casting news.

Check out [livejournal.com profile] ack_attack's Flashback Wig spam. Although I don't see why you don't all just friend her, since I link to almost every post by her. I'm her sycofangirl!

Masi and Hayden - "Every girl crazy 'bout a sharp-dressed man..."

Crazy keyboard...

Anyway, as an American, it doesn't seem odd to me that "racism" brings up "black/white". In terms of racism, that is the biggest problem in America today, due to numbers (largest minority).

Hey, girl! Dr. Demento didn't sing "The Scotsman"! Though he probably made it popular. I think the most famous version (and possibly the writer) was Bryan... damn... plays the autoharp... *googles*... Bryan Bowers! It's his main claim to fame. *G*

I just find it so myopic. In terms of a larger world, the black/white divide is not the only problem, nor is it the biggest in most countries. I mean, I know American culture is myopic about the wider world, but to boil racism down to the problems between just two races in a world as diverse as ours is so overly simplistic.

The version I have says 'Dr. Demento' so that's all I knew about it.

I have 5 songs by The Ataris. The one I posted is about The Goonies, so of COURSE I like that one!

I know you're not that great, but you're infectious. Like a disease!

I understand... but, if racism is defined as "treating another race badly" (which is narrower than "treating another race differently"), it's mainly a black/white problem here. Other races are either admired (here), or differences are considered more cultural than racial - if that made any sense! In other words, there's many kinds of "culturalism", but "racism" does usually bring up the black/white divide.

All of which is sad, no matter how you think of it!

I got to see Bryan Bowers once - tall, geeky, sweet guy. *G*
