YAY OMG RALLY TOMORROW. Almost makes up for the fact that today I went to work but the poor boy was sick and I didn't stay long and didn't get paaaaid :( I am so broke.
Exciting!!! Brand new Indy 4 pictures! I am very, very excited for this.
New dance project for Summer Glau and Joss Whedon. Musical, perhaps? Too optimistic? Think there's room for Muhney in the one too?
ABC blogs about Serenity. Nothing new, just exciting to see it mentioned. I got an e-mail back when I sent them my resume, and now I've got my fingers very firmly and excitedly crossed to hopefully work for the ABC...
And for the last bit of Serenity-related info for the evening, Alan Tudyk really thinks there'll be a Serenity sequel. Seriously.
New Caspian poster! Hot hot sex, Ben Barnes. I don't think they could've picked a less flattering shot of Moseley, though.
A list of fandoms with no GLBTI characters. For the gigantic fail, Lost.
Big news for Javi: The Middleman, the TV show based on his comic, is definitely getting picked up. Yay! Sounds fun :)
Tonight I went to the movies with
melissajane14 to see Cloverfield
Melissa couldn't watch most of the movie, and declared that it couldn't be a great movie if it's unwatchable to a lot of the audience, but she liked the plot. Not suffering from motion sickness in the slightest, I disagree. I'm sure there are several 'classic' or cult films that a number of people can't watch. Does that make them bad? I digress.
I really, really enjoyed the experience. I think the central conceit works really well - we are thrust alongside the characters, experiencing the monster attack entirely from their point of view, which not only grounds it in a genuine sense of reality (even when they're doing unreal things) but forces us to bond with the characters as we experience the events with them. The casting works well - ridiculously pretty people, for the most part, but they cast as brothers people who look like brothers, and the characters are mostly realistic and not highly irritating as most action movie characters are (even the girls!) I knew a couple of the actors, which probably didn't help with the doco feel, but it didn't matter. (One of the main girls was a regular in Life as We Know It, and one guy did guest spots on Lost and Veronica Mars, but I totally didn't recognise Janis from Mean Girls!) The monster was GREAT. I love how it's revealed to us slowly, as it is to the characters, but fear not: there IS a big reveal, and the monster IS awesome. I think the technique worked much better than in Blair Witch, because you get the sense of fear and documentary as well as a satisfying ending - even if I do have questions about the monster, they're fun. Good, original monster flick.
