Aside from me, my entire family spells the dog's name "Saffie."

For some reason this bugs me. It seems like a very irritating name spelled that way. Like Candie, or Tiffanie, or something. Then again, I'm Katie and not Katy, so explain that?

I want to get the picture Tom drew of Harry Potter for me framed. I have two problems with this:
1. It may be kinda weird. However, I myself am more than just kinda weird, so that's probably not going to be too much of an issue.
2. It's very expensive, so I'll probably just buy a frame and then cut the picture and stick it in myself.

I forgot to mention the crazy storm we had here last night. It was very cool, a couple of hours of just thunder and lightning before the rain absolutel bucketed down (which was, of course, the moment Ash decided it was crucial to his wellbeing to go to the shops for a drink, with me being the only person there with a car.) It was pretty cool. My shoes were soaked, so I drove home barefoot. That was really cool, even though you're not really supposed to do it.

The other day when I was about to go see Ramon I discovered a *gorgeous* pewter Lord of the Rings chess set in the window of a games store. I stared at all the pieces for about 10 minutes. It was cool shit--Shelob as the queen of the black set kills me. I went inside and spent a further 15 minutes ogling a Merry statue ($225), a Pippin bust ($165) and some other assorted merchandise. If there are any millionaires who really like me out there reading this, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE that Merry statue, it's beautiful. Logical Choice in Civic, over near Oporto's. Thankyou.
Then on the door was an ad for BOBW. I spent 10 minutes beaming at it, knowing I was going and just feeling like a million bucks.

Also, have I told you I'm going to see Guy in concert? Because I'M GOING TO SEE GUY IN CONCERT! He's performing at the FREE (omg) Australia Day concert here in Canberra this Sunday, and I'm going to go watch him w/ Lea and the fam. How cool is that?!

Today I finished Good Omens, which was fun and I'm still slashing Crowley/Aziraphale, and my Mum and I went to see Goodbye Lenin. It was a very cute film. I was bored somewhere in the middle but overall it held my attention well, and technically it was nice. The acting was good, too.

Called Tom. Bathed Saffy. Made a background for Mariko. And that's about the extent of my day.

When did you first discover Harry Potter? My friend Liz was telling me about it, and then I saw a copy while I was babysitting and the girl was doing some homework, so I picked it up. Hours later I was sent away, and walked home reading it by the light of the streetlamps.
Book first or movie first? Book!
Were you hooked instantly, or did it take a while? Definitely hooked straight away. I loved that it didn't start with Harry at all, but the Dursleys.
Did you instantly fall in love w/ any specific character? *ponders* I quite liked Harry, but I think I sort of instantly loved Ron.
Professor: Snape all the way, baby.
Marauder: Sirius.
Gryffindor: Ron, then. Bloody Gryffindors, honestly. (I'm only putting students in here, not former Gryffindors or McGonagall or anything.)
Slytherin: Draco Malfoy. Though I'm starting to really like Crabbe and Goyle.
Hufflepuff: Cedric Diggory, coz he kicked ass.
Ravenclaw: Definitely Luna Lovegood.
Character overall: Still Snape.

How long did it take you to read...
Book 1?
about 4 hours, because I was disrupted by pesky things like cars and the people hiring me and Mum. Pah.
Book 2? 3 1/2 hours.
Book 3? 3 hours. All the ones from here on are straight up, no interruptions, including that.
Book 4? 6 hours.
Book 5? 9 hours.

If you were in Harry Potter...
What house would you be in? Realistically Ravenclaw, or Gryffindor. I still love Slytherin best though.
What would your pet be? Cat, preferably the traditional black, though I like tortoiseshell ones too. And Fishsticks.
What would your wand be? Probably something completely bizzare. I kinda like the idea of having a Fwooper feather in there, a green one. I'd say at least 10 inches, aand a dark wood, maybe Mahogany.
Who would you date? By choice? I love Oliver Wood, he's sexy. I don't think there are a lot of 20 year olds in the books. Oooh! Bill. I love Bill Weasley, he's definitely hot.
What would be your fav. subject? Potions. I love the idea of it. I probably wouldn't like it as much though, knowing me.

Other
How did you feel about youknowwho dying?
Well I cried after I read it but even then I thought "Wow, that was cool." The way he went, so sudden and unreal and without closure, felt more real than some long and painful death in Harry's arms or something. I liked the shock of it--I wasn't even really sure he was dead for a while.
What are your views on the Dark Lord? I like his unrelenting, almost simplistic evil in the search of immortality and power.
Weasleys or Malfoys?. I love the Malfoys (esp. their names--Narcissa is just too cool) but I've got to go with the Weasleys. There's more of them to love.

SCORPIO
(October 23 - November 21)
the Scorpion. Fixed, water, yin - planetary rulers: Mars and Pluto. Keywords: "I DESIRE"

Scorpio is the eighth house of the Zodiac and governs the genitalia. Positive traits include magnetic charisma, ambition, drive, a penetrating mind, curiosity, intensity of focus, emotional depth, consistency, persistence, willpower, and the potential for inner transformation and regeneration; negative traits include selfishness, obsessiveness, vindictiveness, hypersensitivity, ruthlessness, cynicism, an inability to understand the word "moderation," and jealousy. It is said that Scorpios embody both the best and the worst of all that are born under the stars, and that there are three kinds of Scorpios: wicked scorpions, cunning serpents, and saintly eagles. What each Scorpio becomes is entirely up to that Scorpio.

Gryffindor

Expect stamina, incredible courage, intense and stormy emotions, burning idealism, and indomitable will. Gryffindor Scorpios are never drawn in shades of pastel; they are always blood red and mesmerizing gold. There are few followers born under these aspects; Scorpios born into this house tend to be either leaders or loners. They are well placed on the Quidditch field, where their natural competitive streak and their great store of personal energy make them natural Beaters (or, really, naturals at any position on the field). Expect them to get into frequent duels, and expect them to gravitate naturally to DADA, for all Scorpios are fascinated by anything dark and forbidden, and Gryffindor Scorpios will want to take their place as defenders as early in their careers as possible. Expect passion. Expect wisdom. But don't expect a lot of time to take a breather. Many people born under this aspect also end up as Aurors; they're the perfect "bad cops" to the "good cop" Libra wizards.

Hufflepuff

This is one of the more bizarre signs to get sorted into House Hufflepuff, but every now and then it happens. It's not as contradictory as one would think. Scorpio is perfectly happy to work behind the scenes without getting much recognition, provided that work actually gets something meaningful done and results in personal success; success means different things to different people, and Hufflepuff Scorpios tend to define success as "accomplishment" rather than as "prestige." These Hufflepuffs are indefatigable. They have the energy and the willpower to keep going even when everyone else around them has quit. They are workaholics to an extreme, if they are obsessed with a particular project; otherwise, they are happy to devote their prodigious energies to their family and friends, to whom they are devoted. Scorpio is often associated with the serpents of Aesculapius, demi-god of medicine, and the social orientation and skill at herbals that Hufflepuff wizards exhibit make the Scorpio Hufflepuff a natural healer.

Ravenclaw

Curiosity killed the cat; satisfaction brought it back. If ever a wizard exhibited a danger of self destruction from too much knowledge, surely it was a Ravenclaw Scorpio. It doesn't matter whether the pet obsession this week is botany, Muggle pop music, or the history of the Necronomicon, if a Ravenclaw Scorpio wants to know about it, then he will, and damn the consequences: full speed ahead. Indeed, just mention that a subject is "forbidden" and you'll see a peculiar light shine in their eyes. They sneak into locked rooms after dark, and forge passes to the restricted library sections. The lust for arcane knowledge is both the greatest strength of these wizards, and the Achilles heel. It's best to indulge them whenever possible and let the obsession burn itself out; and, when this is not possible, to explain in great detail and absolutely *no* patronizing why the subject must not be explored. These Ravenclaws are quiet and secretive, but don't be fooled by that calm and placid exterior; they have hidden depths.

Slytherin

What is said of Slytherins born under all other signs is doubly true of Slytherins born under Scorpio. (Or was it that what is said of Scorpios is doubly true of Scorpios sorted into Slytherin?) There is no middle ground here - these wizards can embody all that is the very best in the world... or all that is the very worst. They are heroes, or they are villains. They are attracted to the dark, twisted, and forbidden mysteries of the world from the day they are born, and only they can determine whether they will study the dark arts in order to oppose them, or to embrace them. However, as Scorpio is a sign of transformation and regeneration, it is not impossible for even the most evil of dark wizards to turn to the path of good... Scorpio Slytherins have uncanny wisdom, insight into human psychology, and high "emotional IQ's." They are incredibly ambitious, often exist in a state of total ego, and if misused or hurt, can nurse the wound and seethe for decades. Still, although they are often tempted to do horrible things in the name of glory or discovery, they nevertheless are often the kindest, most compassionate, and most forgiving people of all, for they have seen their own inner darkness, faced it, and do not run from it when they encounter it in others.

I don't think that's fair. As a Slytherin I get no middle ground, dammit. I *like* middle ground, it fascinates and entertains me. I mean, based on this I'm a bloody Hufflepuff. I like Hufflepuffs, but I've *never* considered myself hard-working!

Link of the Day. Monty Python in Lego. Huzzah. I like the skeleton.

The promised Smallville pics. Spoilers, obviously. Are you lot ready for a Sean invasion? Coz I'm posting him tomorrow :) Anyway, first there's the new adult Harry Potter covers. They're pretty. I love CoS.

Just Shawn Ashmore looking geeky.

I like Lex's painting, it's cool.

Lex's hands are on his *face*!!

I think maybe I'm the only one who thinks this looks kinky. Then again Tom Welling and Shawn Ashmore having a go at it isn't exactly a bad mental image.

Holding hands. Yeah. They're not gay lovers. Right.

You feeling the love?

I must just say, watching the RotK press conference in Japan, I'm really glad I'm not there anymore. Really glad.

Please, can you please give me a link to the Japan video. I've gone to the site and am completely buggered as to how to navigate it.

Many many thanks.

I guess it is kinda confusing if you don't have at least a completely basic understanding of Japanese. I can read kana, so I managed to stumble my way through :S

How DO you pronounce it?! I've been saying it that way too!
