The internet died over the weekend, and then I got sick again. The only upside of being sick is that I got to catch up on TV while my stomach decided that it didn't like being on the inside. So, over the course of the last couple of days, I saw:
I'm so madly in love with this show. It's just a joy to watch. I swear I actually giggled and clapped my hands when "Push It" was over. I can't wait until they start to reveal a bit more about the other members of the club, though.
I love the slightly heightened reality of this show - everything is just a little bit more than it would be in real life, so that the musical stuff works, you know? Jayma Mays is so painfully cute, especially with Matthew Morrison. I love the photocopier stuff, I nearly cried from laughing. Shue's wife is such a nutjob.
Just to get it out of the way first: Becky? Really? I didn't find the psycho fangirl thing funny, I really didn't. It's not demeaning enough that they have such awful female characters, but they have to start actively going after fangirls on top of that?
I really liked pretty much everything else about this episode, though. Demon!Bobby was scary and brilliant, and it broke my heart to watch Dean just trying to cope, to figure out what to do, while Sam is hopelessly lost. I feel like they dealt with it in a way that was true to the characters, which is a huge relief for me. Good to see Meg back to causing havoc. Just from stuff I've seen around fandom, it didn't really surprise me that Dean is a vessel for Michael. What do we think, each side will try to claim Dean and Sam for their own at the end and instead they'll band together? That's what I've been thinking for a while.
Also, damn, Misha, I have missed you.
I haven't really talked about this show on here before, have I? It's kind of fun I mostly just started watching it because Christian Kane is in it, and I spent the whole first season thinking Sophie was going to go all crazy Jane and become...you know, crazy. Perhaps that's one of the reason I don't like her storyline lately, but I just hate that she's messing with everybody just to try to get Nate to tell her he's in love with her. I just feel like shaking her and yelling MAN UP. I loooove Parker, though. She really is adorable. I am actually looking forward to seeing how Jeri Ryan fits with the crew, and taking a break from Sophie, who's nice and all but kind of whiny.
I also saw three movies over the last week:
The Game
This is a really, really great thriller. It takes a little while to get into gear, but from the moment Michael Douglas first appears at a company that promises a game that will completely change his life without giving any information whatsoever on what that game is, it hooks you. It's absolutely compelling, and it's the kind of thing Michael Douglas was made for. The girl's kind of mediocre, but the chase scenes are delicious, and it really gets your heart pumping.
I don't want to spoil the ending for anyone, but I will say that I don't know that I liked it. I was sort of going "WTF?" a lot, and not in a good way. I mean, it kind of diminishes everything that came before it, so...I don't get it, Fincher. I really don't.

Brilliant, heart-rending, stunning, funny, moving wonderfulness. One of the best Pixar films ever made, and Pixar makes great films. It's such a celebration of the old and the young and of life. Doug the dog absolutely made my week. I did think the villain storyline was a bit weak and needed to run through the movie more solidly, but that was my only real concern. I don't think a review will do it justice, and it's better to go into this movie blind, so go see it!

Bowling for Columbine
Michael Moore is a real jerk. I don't agree with his tactics at all. He's biased and manipulative, and he's the kind of guy I want to tell to get the hell off my side because he's making us look bad. Having said that, in spite of some meandering lack of direction that leads the film to sort of not know what exactly it's trying to say...this is a pretty good documentary. It's made very cleverly, with the most evocative means he can muster up. I don't think it'll change the mind of anyone who is already NOT on his side, though. I think one of the things I found most bizarre is that Moore accuses the media of creating an environment of fear - which is exactly what he seems to be trying to do with his own work.

My journal name is Um, probably Green Queen? I don't know.
My title is 'It's Not Easy Being Green' because, as Kermit once wisely sang, it's not. But green is beautiful, and I think it's what I wanna be..
My subtitle is 'See What I Did There?' because I never changed if after
