Best ever episode? I think so. I was absolutely enthralled from start to finish. Sue Sylvester is such a brilliant character. Jane Lynch KILLED it in this episode. I don't think Will would ever have a chance against her particular brand of villainy, because how can you come up against someone who is so utterly self-assured that nothing you say will make them change? If she hadn't found out about Quinn, I don't think she'd have EVER backed down. She did have her most human moment ever when she found out about Quinn, I think.
Best Sue lines:
"Even in the heat of battle, I'm so elegant."
"When you hear your name called, cross over to my side of this black shiny thing: Santana, Wheels, gay kid, Asian, other Asian, Aretha, Shaft. See Will, I don't want to participate in a group that ignores the needs of minority students."
"I like minorities so much, I'm thinking of moving to California to become one."
"Your delusions of persecution are a tell-tale sign of early-stage paranoid schizophrenia."
"I don't trust a man with curly hair. I can't help picturing small birds laying sulpurous eggs in there and I find it disgusting."
"You can't stand to see a woman in a position of power. Your psycho-sexual derangement would be fascinating, Will, if it weren't so terrifying."
"Should they learn Spanish? Sure, if they want to become dishwashers and gardeners, but if they want to be bankers and lawyers and captains of industry, the most important lesson they can possibly learn is how to do a round-off." (And then the "don't touch me!" bit, like they're little children.)
"I know the Dutch are famous for being a cold people, but that's no excuse for treating you like some half-priced hooker in Amsterdam's famous red-light district."
"I know I'm not like the rest of you hippies, caring about the kids' feelings as if they're real."

I don't know how she's still employed, but I know it would be a poorer show if she weren't.

Plot and character-wise, I thought this was also a strong episode. It gave us some decent insight into both Quinn and Rachel, with sympathetic and less sympathetic sides to both of them. Will really DID have his students' best interests at heart for most of the episode, and Terri was...a little less psycho than usual, which tends to happen whenever Kendra's in the episode. What they're doing to Will is so cruel, though. Another scene between Rachel and Quinn, which is shaping up to be an intriguing relationship - I'm really looking forward to see how they go with that. I love that everything's a production with Rachel, even storming out of rehearsal. Finn really is dumb as a post. DRIZZLE!!! I nearly died laughing. Mike had a whole line! Puck said "Shalom"!

Meanwhile, FIVE MUSICAL NUMBERS. All of varying quality - the vocals on 'Keep Holding On' and 'You Keep Me Hanging On' were pretty weak, but the dance number on the latter knocked it out of the park and everybody acted their butt off in the former (the Quinn & Kurt bit was particularly sweet). 'Hate On Me' took a minute for me to get used to because of the different beat (time signature?), but I loved seeing all those kids together and Amber's an amazing singer. 'Ride Wit Me' was just adorable, everybody having fun together, nobody standing out too much, and Puck on guitar (HOT). Plus it's the only song from the show that's EVER sounded organic. I really only thought 'No Air' was both weak vocally and kind of superfluous, I'm sick of Rachel & Finn duets where Lea holds back and their voices are messed with. More Puck, Kurt, Tina and Artie next episode please :)

5 Reasons It Sucks Being a Joss Whedon Fan. Nasty, nasty article. He's clearly right about the last one, though, as he professes himself to be a fan.

Can Summer Glau save 'Dollhouse'? How the hell can she be expected to do that? She doesn't carry that kind of clout to start with. I mean, we all love her, but it's not like she's widely known outside the circle of geeks. Ridiculous.

Marc Blucas has a recurring role on 'Lie To Me' where he will make out with Brendan Hines on a regular basis. Okay, I made that up because it would actually make me watch.

Alias spy-daddy (Victor Garber) is featured in "Star Trek" deleted scenes as a Klingon. GLEE + STAR TREK!

Does anyone have the Jason Mraz song 'If it Kills Me' from the Casa Nova Sessions version or Guy Sebastian's 'Love You Like That'?

...so that's my post from last night, or at least where I got up to before the black-out. More later.
