1. I probably have a job for next year. I'm going to be the director (and Boss) of the after school care program that I currently work at. I can do it with or without the teaching degree, it's full time, and I'll be a boss. I'm really excited about it.

2. I had my birthday party last night. We played a 'Star Trek' drinking game, and [livejournal.com profile] melissajane14 brought cake and bought me Veronica Mars s3 so I finally have it, and my cousin brought TMI and 'STARSKY AND HUTCH' SEASON 2 DVDs OMG I'M SO HAPPY, and [livejournal.com profile] baldie_troll gave me hugs totally of his own accord. It was awesome. I wish I didn't have to go back to real life tomorrow.

3. Linkies:
  • 'Chuck' returns January 10th

  • [livejournal.com profile] gabsy!!! WHOSE LINE GIFS!!!!

  • Dom will present at the AMAs. I gotta catch up on FlashForward and White Collar.

  • Aaron Sorkin to return to TV

  • The 30 Most Disturbing 'Twilight' products (disturbing just for the fact that there's 30!), very negative review of 'New Moon' that has some brilliant points.

  • What Stormtroopers Do On Their Day Off

  • Sci Fi Now's 10 best scifi TV series.

  • 'Leaf on the Wind' t-shirt and DR. HORRIBLE CHRISTMAS TREE ORNAMENTS AKA BEST EVER. WANT.

  • The fandom's full of fail already, but now the 'Heroes' writers have spoken out against racism against white men. Seriously.

  • Disney casting: Villains & Royalty.

  • Awesome Enterprise-like light.

  • Mark Salling 'Glee' homage that he linked on his Twitter, and a wonderful article about Kurt Hummel. I can't help wondering how much of Chris inspires Kurt.

  • Continuing his own personal philosophy that spoiling everything about your show is the Best Idea Ever, have a spoilery Eric Kripke interview. Also, Samantha Ferris posts.

  • Icons: gorgeous Glee & Supernatural, Supernatural & Buffy.

  • 3. I didn't enjoy this one as much as last week's. I'm a bit tired of the one-episode relationships and crushes that keep popping up - I feel like they should be more drawn out, more fleshed out. I enjoyed the Finn and Kurt stuff, unsurprisingly, and I think "I'll Stand By You" was Finn's strongest vocal, although I could do with a lot less of him singing. The musical stuff, apart from "Lean On Me", pretty much left me totally cold. The Glee kids reaching out to Finn and Quinn after Quinn's parents (Mitchum Huntzburger holla!) completely rejected her was fantastic, and I loved the contrast between Finn's low-SES mother's acceptance and the upper crust Fabrays' refusal to do the same. The stuff with Quinn and her family was great, Dianna Agron is amazing and shaping up to be the best girl, which is a bit sad. The Suzy Pepper stuff was upsetting too, but in a good way. I still wish the show would have a bit more of the other Glee kids, and I'm really starting to get pissed off with Mercedes, whose response to Puck telling her that Quinn was LYING TO FINN ABOUT BEING THE FATHER OF HER BABY seemed completely inappropriate to me. I get that Quinn's in a rough spot, I really do, but her handling of it is atrocious.

Did anyone make gifs from 'Wheels'? I know [livejournal.com profile] fight_the_sky, who usually does, didn't make them for that episode, and it's my favourite.

    4. I did enjoy the episode, but I much prefered both 'The End' and 'Changing Channels' this season. I don't know what they were going for with the Dean/Jo stuff, but I would have preferred if if they'd left it out. At least Jo was a lot more bearable, sure of herself, and less hateful this time around. Even Ellen kept her bullying to a minimum. Maybe if they planned to kill off girls every episode, they would be better written. The last moments were beautiful but didn't affect me much.

I think Misha Collins and Mark Pellegrino were the best things about this episode. Dean had a wonderful moment on the radio to Bobby, and I loved Sam and Dean's little exchange about not trusting demons - I think the fact that they're joking about it is amusing and a good sign, and it feels so real - but Misha and Mark knocked one out of the park in this one. Misha is amazing struggling with this search and his own futility, and Mark Pellegrino is a natural for Lucifer. He has such charm and menace. Their scene together, where Castiel was horrified at what Lucifer was doing to I also loved seeing Mark Sheppard, although hello further homophobia. Is there any point in even complaining about it anymore? Still, I can't wait for more Crowley, he'll be fun for the boys to go up against. I like how even though he plays similar characters, each Mark Sheppard character has his own quirks - his bursting into shouting was very effective. "Functional morons" is a brilliant and accurate insult, considering how much Sam and Dean suck at stopping the apocalypse.

    5. Still Walking (Aruitemo, Aruitemo)

This is a Japanese film my father took me to see (shock, surprise), and it's about a family reunion over the course of one hot summer day. The first hour was engaging, interesting, well-shot and well-acted. There were hints of the past cropping up every now and then and interesting relationships and family dynamics. Scenes between some characters were powerful and there was a lovely realism to the film. I loved how the camera was often placed, unmoving, at the children's eye level. It leant the film a sense of realism and a kind of claustrophobic but warm feeling. Then the fun people left and it became a chore to sit through the rest of the film, which dragged on half an hour too long, in my opinion. It's an interesting film, but not the best Japanese film I've seen.

    6.

I particularly love that first one. Been watching Star Trek, and CHRIS PINE IS SO FUCKING HOT.

lol that Nathan gif reminds me of Joey in Friends when he's teaching how to act in soap operas

    From: [identity profile] trishpip.livejournal.com

I was thinking the same thing - the "something smells funny" look but can't remember the rest.

    From: [identity profile] hobbitofkobol.livejournal.com

Found it! it's from "The One with the Race Car Bed"

"Okay, some tricks of the trade. Now, I've never been able to cry as an actor, so if I'm in a scene where I have to cry, I cut a hole in my pocket, take a pair of tweezers, and just start pulling. Or ah, or, let's say I wanna convey that I've just done something evil. That would be your basic "I've got a fishhook in my eyebrow and I like it" (Does it by raising one eyebrow, and showing off the pretend fishhook) Okay, let's say I've just gotten bad news, well all I do there is try and divide 232 by 13. (looks all confused) And that's how it's done. Great soap opera acting tonight everybody, class dismissed."

Yeah, I remembered that, but Nathan's is so much more succinct. I think Nathan missed his calling as a stand-up comedian.

I don't know what they were going for with the Dean/Jo stuff, but I would have preferred if if they'd left it out.
Glad I'm not alone with this - it was mildly irritating. lol

LOL The Chris Pine pics are awesome!

    From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

It's just, she was finally getting to be less irritating so there has to be a weird almost-incestuous romantic thing? Why?

    CHRIS PINE IS ALWAYS AWESOME.

    From: [identity profile] epicflailer.livejournal.com

bahaha, i meant more, like, for this episode in particular. i've read reviews/reactions from all over the place and this is the only one i'm like, YES!!!!!!!111111~ to.

    From: [identity profile] hwconundrum.livejournal.com

I saw the '30 Disturbing Twilight products' story too and thought it was HILARIOUS - particularly the sparkle!dildo. Should I feel bad?

Incidentally, if you liked that then the following is probably Relevant To Your Interests: Mark Reads Twilight So You Don't Have To (http://markreadstwilight.buzznet.com/user/journal/). Sarcasm! Snarky comments! Fake autopsy reports! What more could you possibly want from a book review?

This comment brought to you by more rum than was really sensible on a Sunday night. Hiiiiiiiii!

    From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Nah, I thought it was mostly pretty funny too. Actually, I think the dildo is kind of harmless compared to some of the really disturbing stuff. I still think the cut-out stalker!Edward is the creepiest thing.

I think I've seen Mark Reads Twilight before, actually.
