Role Models
Yeah, this wasn't really funny. I thought I'd like it, with Paul Rudd, Ken Marino and Jane Lynch all in it (Veronica Mars cast reunion!) but Paul Rudd was so unlikeable in the beginning that it took me half the movie before I could stop feeling uncomfortable, and a lot of the jokes weren't funny. It ended in such a cliche way, too. I laughed more in the second half and started to enjoy the geekiness of Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and I liked its pro-geek stance, but mostly I didn't enjoy it. Also there were a lot of gay jokes (see In Bruges also) and that just annoyed me.

The Lovely Bones
I found this movie boring, but I also found the book boring.
melissajane14 liked the book and liked the movie, so that probably tells you that at least PJ and crew did a good adaptation of the book. It was long and ponderous with lots of long, ponderous, admittedly beautiful shots of Saorse (sp?) Ronan emoting. Susan Sarandon was fabulous, the only fun in the movie - I remember the book being less miserable and more matter-of-fact. Stanley Tucci did a great job as Mr. Harvey, and I liked Marky Mark but that role didn't quite seem to fit him. The aging of the actors was weird too. Very, very pretty, though, and the subject matter was handled well. I just find the subject matter boring.

I, Robot
From the first terrible, obvious piece of product placement to the cheesy closing scene, this movie wasn't really even enjoyably bad. It was just bad. I feel like I should be playing fandom spotto with some of these movies though - Chi McBride! Bruce Greenwood! Alan Tudyk! Alan Tudyk probably put in a better performance as the robot than any of the humans. The robo-humanity crap is just rehashed and old. Try BSG instead.

In Bruges
I...don't get it. I didn't find this funny. I wasn't keeping up well anyway because we were all hanging out talking, but what I did hear didn't seem that funny to me. It's beautifully shot but it's all a bit wanky, and didn't really get interesting until the last third of the movie. Also, it was weird and wildly offensive without actually making me laugh. Ralph Fiennes was the best part. Harry Potter cast reunion!

Catwoman
This was way more fun than I thought it would be. It was kind of a so-bad-it's-fun movie, especially since I knew it would be awful going into it. I did watch it with people, which made it more fun, but it was kind of hilariously bad - bad writing, bad costumes, bad acting, bad directing. I like Sharon Stone and Halle Berry trying to out-overact each other. The special effects were abysmal. It probably doesn't deserve the rating I gave it, but I enjoyed watching Catwoman more than pretty much any other movie in this post. Also, it's my last movie of the year!
