Something that's been annoying me about watching 'Star Trek' extras:
Why does JJ keep referring to Gaila as "Green Girl"? They talk about Keenser using his name, which unless I'm mistaken is never actually spoken in the movie, and yet Gaila, who is referred to by name, gets called "Green Girl". Also, all the deleted Gaila scenes completely diminish how awesome she is in the one-and-a-bit scenes we get her for in the actual movie. I didn't find anything particularly funny about the scene where Kirk apologises to the wrong girl, even though JJ etc. were raving about it.

Obviously I'm biased and fandom has a skewed point of reference, but it seems really sexist and disrespectful, because Gaila was so out there cool and fandom's portrayal of her is terrific. I guess I'm just disappointed that the makers of the movie don't love her too.
In other news: OMG NEW LEVERAGE!
ETA: By the way, how do you make a note or comment on Tumblr? I can't work it out.
ETA2: I think it says something that I totally forgot that about 3 days ago I saw It's Complicated
Well, no, it's not. In fact, since every funny joke (except for John Krasinski's) was in the trailer (which was much better and more enjoyable than the movie), I'd say it's actually pretty simple. This is a movie which relies almost entirely on the charisma of Alec Baldwin and Meryl Streep, and since I find Alec Baldwin irritating, pretty much just Meryl Streep. It's way too long, it's way too cheesy, and I kind of wish the whole thing had just been Meryl, JKras and Steve Martin getting high, since that was the best part. She's always lovely, but this movie was mostly just boring, and very much aimed at my mother's generation.
As I've mentioned, I liked John Krasinski. So much that when the movie finished I leaned over to my sister and said "can I have one of him for my birthday?" He was funny and sweet in this movie, which is impressive considering his character pretty much isn't one.

What I'm kind of concerned about is the fact that Gaila is, in all likelihood, dead D:. I'm not deep into Trek fandom so I'm not sure how often this has been addressed, but since she was a cadet on another starship... wouldn't she have died during the Narada incident?

We don't actually know she was a cadet on another ship - we don't hear her name called out, and Uhura could've been pouting at Gaila's excited face because Gaila was assigned to the Enterprise and she wsan't.

I think It's Complicated would have been better if it had been about half as long. TWO HOURS OH MY GOD, IT WOULD NOT END!!! And NOTHING HAPPENED. I really like John Krasinski(oh boy do I like him), Meryl Streep, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin (though I really didn't like his character in the movie), and it had some cute scenes, but it was just WAY TOO LONG. JKras was adorable and awesome in it, though, as he usually is.
