I have this awesome book of Shakespeare's sonnets, but every time I read one all I get stuck in my head is this:

Sonnet 29 - Rufus Wainwright

When, in disgrace with fortune and men's eyes,
I all alone beweep my outcast state
And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries
And look upon myself and curse my fate,
Wishing me like to one more rich in hope,
Featured like him, like him with friends possess'd,
Desiring this man's art and that man's scope,
With what I most enjoy contented least;
Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising,
Haply I think on thee, and then my state,
Like to the lark at break of day arising
From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven's gate;
For thy sweet love remember'd such wealth brings
That then I scorn to change my state with kings.

I'm still not getting comment notifications, you guys.

HELL YES WE WON.

Lovely Harry Potter movie picspam.

Most depressing April Fool's Day post ever. Spoilers for the Deathly Hallows book. If you haven't read it, what are you doing on my flist anyway?

Sci-fi Superfan Reference Manual.

[livejournal.com profile] ack_attack's Lost stuff: Ab Aeterno recap, hilarious new Benry Knows Best.

Cute icons. There are some Community ones there if you want them, [livejournal.com profile] cathsicle. (Also, I hate Titanic so much.)

Also, Chris Colfer, meanwhile, has one requirement of his future leading man. “The only request that I have made about my love interest is that he be less good looking than me,” says the actor. “I don’t want him to be prettier than me. That would be my only request.” Seems reasonable to me.
Oh, Chris Colfer. I love you. Source with lots more spoilers.

What's up with the Titanic love lately? Aadmittedly, I adored that film when I was 13. I honestly thought I'd never stop watching it. But when I got it on VHS, I realized it depressed me too much to watch that often. And now after seeing bits of it on tv, I don't get it anymore. And this started years ago before people [our age] started hating on it publicly.

That sci-fi reference manual is pretty spot on. Though I find it humorous that the 'downsides' of Firefly don't really cast a bad light. :)

I actually saw the film for the first time when I was about 13 and haaaaaated it. Like, straight off the bat. I celebrated when the damn boat hit the iceberg and then there was another hour and a half of the movie! Now I still hate it. I'm convinced that at some point in the past James Cameron actually sold his soul to make his films popular and there are a few of us going "BUT THEY SUUUUUUCK."

LOL yeah, Browncoats are just that awesome.

lol Too true. And see, Avatar - sure, it looks great. (Graphic awards it deserved, but cinematography? Eh.) But the story isn't anything special, it's not even original. I think it's so funny that people said how crappy it was that Hurt Locker won over Avatar because he made an important story. It's Pocahontas with blue creatures! Not to mention, that story has been done quite a bit, given in different variations.

True story.

Yeah, that's...pretty much my rant. Although I tend to include Ferngully for good measure.
