That's kinda the point. They are poking fun at people who turn up their noses at certain types of scifi.

(Though I would also argue that ranking the plausibility of scifi movies/shows is just as valid as, say, ranking the hotness of the actors in the movies/shows -- just because a show doesn't have hard science doesn't mean it is bad, and just because an actor is super-hot doesn't mean the show will be good. ::cough::)

Well they aren't really, the ones they are calling hard science are the ones that people turn their noses up.

The whole point of science fiction is taking some vague basis in science and taking it in to the realm of fiction.
