I've tried to fight it, but I don't think there's any escaping the fact that I'm pretty much a Gryffindor. I've taken a bunch of those sorting tests, and I usually come out a Gryffindor. I have traits of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, and I would actually like a few Slytherin traits, but I think in terms of being the person who tries to do the right thing I'd be in Gryffindor. I think it's unlikely that I would actually be in Ravenclaw given my very specific academic interests, and I think I'd be booted out of Hufflepuff for laziness. I suppose, if it existed, I might be a Huffledor/Gryffinpuff. I always find it easier to sort other people than myself.

Before I forget, again, here are the first of the reviews of movies I saw on my holiday:
10 July 2010:
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
This movie was cute, but incredibly uneven and episodic. So, essentially, very much a Chris Columbus adaptation - keeps all the flash, none of the substance (I'm guessing, I haven't read the books.) It looks great, but the acting is all over the place, with most of the adults hamming it up and the kids doing a pretty good job of keeping the insanity of the plot grounded (again, reminiscent of Philosopher's Stone and CoS.) I did like Rosario Dawson as Persophone - rawr - and I called Adam Winchester being the bad guy early, but he was essentially fun. They needed a lot more grounding to sell the concept, which is really pretty ludicrous, and they didn't manage that.

The Runaways
You know, their wallets might be heavier from Twilight, but I think the careers of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart could really do without those blights on their resumes. Kristen Stewart proves herself to be a very capable actor in this, as does Dakota Fanning. The movie illustrates the allure and the dangers of a sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle stylishly and intelligently. Michael Shannon puts in a powerful performance as the band's brilliant, egotistical, manic manager Kim Fowley, but the movie coasts on the strength of Stewart and Fanning, who are electric and engaging. The movie looks gorgeous, and the music is fantastic. It loses momentum a bit in the end of the second act, but Dakota Fanning portrays Currie's unstoppable slide into drug-addled washed-up rock star thrillingly in the third act.

Clash of the Titans
Rubbish. Two actors whom I now believe to be completely overrated in the lead - I just felt like I was watching Sam Worthington and Gemma Arterton in funny costumes playing pretend, and yes, that is what acting is, but we're supposed to actually believe them - and some unforgivably dodgy SFX on Medusa are the worst parts of a bad movie. I would have liked a lot more of the gods on Olympus. Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson crackle with righteous indignation, and they are the only part of the movie that's any fun. Still. Total rubbish. Entertaining to see this and Percy Jackson in the same day, though - I love the Greek gods.
Also, HEY NICHOLAS HOULT.

Clash of the Titans was the kind of rubbish movie that is only saved by the people you see it with. The friends I saw it with snickered and made snarky commentary with me throughout it, so the experience was ten times more enjoyable than it otherwise would have been.

LOL your Clash of the Titans comment reminded me of my experience watching Prince of Persia. The films are similar. Titans didn't have Jake Gyllenhaal or Jeff, though, so that worked against it.
