Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

I think this movie is what baldie_troll wants his real life to be like. Actually, this can probably be said of all gamers all over the world.

This movie is pretty awesome, man. It's hilarious, off-the-wall, and stylistically mad, in a brilliant sort of way. It has some fantastic supporting characters, especially Kieran Culkin as gay roommate Wallace (OMG I WANT ONE. SERIOUSLY. FAVOURITE PART OF THE MOVIE), but also Knives Chau, Kim, and the hilarious League of Evil Exes (Brandon Routh and Chris Evans being the stand-outs. Vegan powers!) It also has great one-liners and a gentle mockery of hipsters. However, I found Scott and the object of his affection, Ramona Flowers, to be rather irritating when they weren't kicking people's asses (which is something Ramona did not do nearly enough of.) Scott completely fails to do the right thing while people faun over him for most of the movie, and Ramona equates a slightly complicated ex of Scott's to all of her exes trying to kill him. The plot is also kind of messy, due to the fight scenes inserted in various places. Still, it's a very funny, energetic portrait of life as a video game, and I enjoyed it a lot.

That was my main problem with Scott Pilgrim - I thought Ramona was just bland and annoying. She was supposed to be 'edgy' for dying her hair, but for most of the movie, she practically seemed to blend into the background, and she never really stood up for Scott until the last 15 minutes and even then, she kind of dumped him for a bit again.
