Tonight I watched Pal Joey

What a load of sexist tripe. I basically rented it because it was mentioned in Avenue Q and it has a cool cast, but I found it mostly boring or offensive. Rita Hayworth is a force that can't be contained, though, and I liked her more than any other character (except the dog) - which is saying something, as she's the bad guy. Frank Sinatra is basically unlikeable throughout the whole thing. I know I'm not supposed to retroactively judge movies based on today's standards, but it's just so irritating in this movie.

Really, really great songs, though. "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered", "My Funny Valentine", "The Lady is a Tramp".

Is Elaine Stritch in the film? I know she was in the stage production.

Yeah, not one of Frankie's better movies. The songs always make his bad ones more bearable though.

Have you seen the original Ocean's Eleven? If not, I think it's definitely worth a watch. It has a very separate character when compared to the modern remake, and I personally think the plot choices make it the better out of the two. (I still like them both, the original just had more to say.)
