Trick 'r Treat
This movie had no plot. I mean, seriously. No plot whatsoever. It also wasn't scary, which IMDb seems to think is the point, to which I say...then what's the point? Apart from Tahmoh and Reggie Lass being in the same movie? The werewolf thing was kind of cool, but the pumpkin kid at the end wasn't scary at all and the serial killer stuff was just strange (and oddly predictable.) It looked kind of neat but it was still pretty damn pointless.

Jennifer's Body
This movie had a half-decent idea (she's a maneater! Literally!) but it tried waaaaaaaaaaaaay too hard to actually be cool. It's like Diablo Cody let loose the ridiculous that stayed contained within the irony of Ellen Page in Juno and let it loose on unsuspecting actresses who didn't know what to do with it. I love Amanda Seyfried and all, but Megan Fox is still kind of rubbish and this movie didn't do much to improve that. There were so many bits that were almost cool that were just ruined by idiotic dialogue or the most awkward sex scene ever juxtaposed against the most awkward death scene ever. I liked Adam Brody in it because he didn't have to try too hard, and there are some cool moments, particularly when you first discover that Jennifer's a demon zombie thingamee, but it's all just too much ridiculousness.
My tit? Really?

It
Way longer than I thought, but still more bearable than the other two. I actually thought all the stuff with the kids was really great - they were a talented bunch and you really felt for them. There were some cool Stephen King themes being explored (hello, Stand By Me, right down to the Gary Stu-esque self-insertion) but mostly there was an interesting juxtaposition (word of the night!) of the mundane, everyday late-50's/early-60's suburban existence with real horror and menace in the form of a wonderfully scenery-chewing Tim Curry. Now I get why so many people find clowns so scary (although I kind of loved him.) If only it hadn't been ruined by the HORRIFYINGLY BAD ACTING of most of the adult actors (the late John Ritter excepted, naturally.) Seriously, there were scenes that were almost this bad. (Or this. LOL RYAN O'NEAL. LOL.) If they'd just cut out all the grown-up stuff and left it as a real movie at about 1.5 hours long it wouldn't been good.

I was expecting more, to be honest. I feel like I would've gotten it if the movie had more Helen Mirren in it, but it just felt a little bloated. There were some awesome explosions and fun actions scenes, though, and it was great to see this cast all together. Karl was actually a stand-out for me, he did a great job except for dropping his accent every 5 minutes. John Malkovich was also good, very funny while still being pretty dangerous. I enjoyed the movie a lot, it was a fun watch, but I think more Helen Mirren (and Brian Cox, actually) and a little less Bruce being Bruce would have made it more enjoyable, and more editing would have made it tighter and less sprawling. It looked great too, though, excellent use of location filmmaking rather than just a studio job.

It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.

I agree that in the film the childhood stuff was the best part. I always thought that the book punctured out idyllic vision of the 50s. That Clown represented the darkside of that town and the way those kids suffered and how none of the adults seemed to care.
The film also avoided the worst part of It---the horrifying all-child gang bang.

The book It was actually pretty creepy, but watching Pennywise on screen I just thought he was kind of friendly, like a happy clown that sometimes had sharp teeth. This is why I'd die in a real-life horror movie scenario.
