Have you noticed that kids' movies are very badly dumbed down these days?
They were definitely a whole lot darker and scarier, as well as generally a lot more intelligent, in the old days. Don't believe me? Well, I was just watching a bit of Peter Pan during the Rove ad breaks. Captain Hook's just hanging around on his ship being annoyed at Peter Pan when he hears one of the pirates singing happily. What does he do? Shoots him. In the middle of the song, without batting an eyelid. And they say Harry Potter CoS is dark and scary! Maybe the mood is, but hell, it's hardly as violent as that. Not a single person in the movie (or the book) dies, and certainly not in that completely offhand way.
My day was pretty ordinary, I went to uni, I saw Melissa (have I mentioned Melissa? Don't think I have. Uni friend, knows Nutty, Buffy fan, I converted her to the VSD's. Very cool.) and we talked for an hour, as we tend to do. Well, I rant, and she laughs and interjects occasionally. Wrote a fanfic in my Anth lecture which is turning out to be quite long. Well, we watched a bit of Monty Python's Life of Brian, and I was kinda half tuned-in whenever the professor was talking, which led to a very confusing moment when I confused colonists with communists and ended up thinking communists attempted to take over Australia using weeds. Came home, called Tom, Colin called me. Said something odd about him dancing around holding four phallic sticks. Rather worrying, although after seeing his trick with a beer bottle, perhaps it should be somewhat less so. Believe it or not, I really don't have much else to say tonight, so I'll post a couple quiz results instead.
