I just watched Singin in the Rain again this weekend. SO GOOD! I totally love that the guys "suits" look like 1 peices, sewn together so the dont come all untucked while DANCING UP A STORM!

Men dancing in suits = one of my favourite things ever.

Gene Kelly! I was talking about him with T-Dot last night because there's an Astaire movie marathon on some channel or other this week and Astaire is GREAT but if someone forced me to choose, well... Kelly could do everything Astaire could do, but he could do it on roller skates.

You know how I feel about the other two already. :D

I love Fred Astaire as well. I've written essays on Gene Kelly vs. Fred Astaire, and Gene was always jealous of the ease with which Fred could do things, while Gene had to work a lot harder. It's in that white collar vs. blue collar thing they've got going on, you know? I also prefer Gene Kelly.

I've never seen Singin' In the Rain. What is is that you love about it?

...how long do you have? It's only the greatest musical of all time. It's a musical about the advent of sound in cinema, it's inspired. It's got Gene Kelly, whom I love, at his absolute best and offset by the casual humour of Donald O'Connor. Debbie Reynolds is gorgeous, Jean Hagen is hilarious as the bad guy (and I LOVE her character), it's got great costumes and classic songs and dancing like you've never seen. The songs mostly serve the plot. It's fun and funny and clever.

I'm so biased, too, it's been one of my favourites since I was 3 years old and I've written three essays on Gene Kelly.
