All season I've been saying that this year's contestants are all in love with each other, but this? BOYKISSING ON SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE! They actually kissed. This is a thing for me because So You Think You Can Dance has to be the most closeted show on the air - it's all about dancers, you know that a huge proportion of them are probably queer in some way, and yet they go on about masculinity and femininity and keep denying everybody the opportunity to express that (and have straight kisses all the time).

Plus they're my favourite boys this season. If Ricky gets top 2 instead of Tadd I'm going to be pissed.

I think Ricky getting through this week was a fluke - I think that Nigel saying Ricky was probably going to be in the bottom and Tadd would go through without problems was the reason for the wonky voting this week. There's just no way Ricky can be in finals week over Tadd. I was expecting one more week of Jess with Ricky going this week, but I can't be too upset over him going just one week early, especially not when his solo was kickass and there was so much open affection in the results show. THEY ARE SO ADORABLE, I CAN'T EVEN.

It does really bother me that they try to hetero the show up when so many of the dancers are so clearly gay. It actually caused problems last season with Billy Bell - in that dance he did with Jose, there was tension between them when Billy sexualised the dance and Jose didn't know what to do with that. It disappoints me fairly often. In the Australian one they really embrace the gay - one dancer, Rhys, was also a drag queen, and they went into that a lot, as well as his aggressively sexual style of dance and his explorations of gender. He came second, and the girl who came fourth auditioned with her girlfriend and was very masculine.

yeah, i thought they'd be in the bottom together, and was surprised when they suddenly called tadd's name.

yeaaaah, I remember that.

aww, that's awesome. i never watched the au version, is it good? dance-wise i mean. (the german one they once had was *horrid*)

Everybody was surprised when they called Tadd's name. Ricky nearly went into shock. He knew it was his week. And when Tadd went bottom 2, Jess knew it was his week. He was very sweet about it, though.

No, the Aussie SYTYCD was pretty bad. The only decent choreographer we have, Jason Gilkison, was stolen by the US one pretty quickly, and none of the others could challenge the dancers at all. The costuming was generally awful, and the camerawork made me want to stab people. I want to MARRY the camerapeople on the US SYTYCD, they're SO good. I mean. Really. The worst thing about the Australian one, though, is the host. Cat Deeley so deserves her Emmy nom. She's beautiful, natural, funny and sweet and so supportive of all the dancers. Natalie Bassingthwaite, the Australian host, can't even read a fucking teleprompter. She can't move her face for botox, and she is the most incredibly fake human being on the face of the planet. It's cringeworthy in the extreme.

Best thing ever to come out of the Australian SYTYCD was this pair:

That routine, this one (http://youtu.be/ldbVenvqjRA), and this one (http://youtu.be/xpXsmwNSB8o) are the best things ever on the Australian show. Robbie won and Ivy came...third or fourth, I think, but I seriously loved Ivy from the moment she came on and said she couldn't be a ballet dancer because she liked eating too much. I have such a massive girlcrush on her. She's preeeetty.

Here's the fabulous gay drag queen boy doing a solo (http://youtu.be/IrptoxKgnA4), though. I did love him. My sister's met him a few times now, which is cool for her - she's basically the biggest SYTYCD fan there is.
