Trying to make a post and LJ is saying there's a problem with the content, so I'm going to post it in pieces and see where the problem lies.

Here's the problem!

So Ryan Murphy gave an interview on Deadline and then AfterElton rephrased it with a great deal of accuracy...and LJ won't let me post the links. Go find the articles!

Sorta-kinda confirmation of Darren replacing DanRad in H2$ on Broadway.

12 Darren Criss live performances you must see. I know them all by heart. I would alter the list myself, but a couple of my favourites - including Sophomore and Tu Vuoi Fa L'Americano - are on there.

Today I watched The Captains

It was a ridiculously entertaining experience for me, but I can't figure out how to grade it as a movie. It was an exercise in stroking The Shat's ego, but at the same time it was interesting and wacky and stupid and fun. All of the actors who played the captains are really interesting, distinct personalities. Avery Brooks is a crazy jazz junkie who doesn't answer a question with words, Kate Mulgrew is an absolute HBIC, Patrick Stewart is all weighty and refined but also very positive about the experience, Scott Bakula is super fun, and Chris Pine is smart but kind of edgy. There are some very heavy questions in here that only vaguely relate to the show and the film is edited appallingly, with plenty of time for William Shatner to be cheesy and show off, but it was all so much fun - Shat sitting in a cardboard box with "captain inside" written on it, Shat being sweet with a heavily disabled fan at a con, Shat trying to sing. It gets insightful but it's also about the fun and the connection that Trek has made with people.

They could have shown more Chris Pine - the doco made it feel like the new movie is something apart from the "real" Star Trek. I suppose I get it, since the tone is so different, but I so prefer the reboot verse to the others.

3 out of 5, I guess?
