Today I watched two movies! Yay, go me!
Spies Like Us
I wasn't expecting this to be as funny as it was. Bob Hope has a cameo and it is a bit Road To. Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd are SO YOUNG in this! It's a pretty straightforward farce about decoy spies who, of course, manage to endanger and then save the world while pulling funny faces, but the chemistry between Aykroyd and Chase is solid and parts of it are hilarious. Awesome cameos. The movie actually looks pretty good too.

Stand and Deliver
OMG HOW HAVE I NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE? IT TICKS OFF SEVERAL AWESOME BOXES:
The progression of the story feels genuine - these aren't easy kids to work with, and they don't turn into plaid-wearing geniuses, but they work hard when they're inspired too. It has awesome ideas about teaching for its time ("the kids will rise to your expectations"), and Escalante is an imperfect but ultimately excellent teacher. The handling of race issues is brilliant and on point. The performances are good and naturalistic, and the music is cool. It loses its way a little bit in the middle and the pacing isn't perfect, but it's a pretty great classroom drama nonetheless.

- EDWARD JAMES OLMOS AND LOU DIAMOND PHILIPS!
