Friends should not let friends post drunk.
I get very oversensitive and deeply, painfully stupid when I'm drunk, so if I was mean to you last night (*cough*
naughtyevil*cough*) please feel free to disregard everything I said and believe that I still love you loads. Bah.
Today I was supposed to do my assignment but I went to the markets instead. Because I am teh suck. So I'm going to try to get it done tomorrow afternoon.
After watching Idol tonight we watched 50 First Dates which I borrowed from Lea. I didn't really like the way it started, but once Drew and Sean hit the screen I was much happier. I really enjoyed the second half of the movie particularly. I thought the colours were terrific! Drew was very cool in it, and Sean made me laugh just by standing there. He was hot in this movie :) of course it may well be that I just think that because I've only just met him and he is hot. The ending was very, very cleverly done, not a cop-out but not miserable. Bittersweet, I guess.
Casey - They put her in a shorter skirt! I thought she was terrific tonight, I really enjoyed her performance. I actually didn't doubt she could do it, because she really seems like a completely different person on stage as opposed to in interviews and things.
Courtney - It was a safe song, but a good one. In the near future in a non-Disco week I bet he *will* really tear it up. See my thoughts on the judges expecting too much below in Anthony's review.
Chanel - I didn't think it was that bad. The dress wasn't great but her voice held up fine and at least she was having fun and being herself.
Daniel - This was my favourite of his performances. I am so bored by him when he's in his element because he just doesn't try. Tonight he was really trying, and smiling and not looking like he was in pain, and being kinda goofy because he knew he was out of his element. It's almost as though knowing he would do badly freed him to have fun, which made me like him more.
Ricki-Lee - I enjoyed her performance. It wasn't my favourite but it was fun and had a lot of energy, and I thought she looked okay.
Hayley - I liked that performance as long as the camera was close in on her face and we didn't have to see the weird poses or slightly ugly dress. It was definitely a stand-out vocally and she, too, looked like she was having fun.
Anthony - It was good but reminded me too much of last week's and the week before's. I'm looking forward to something different, a bit more like "The Reason." However I can't see how the judges can expect depth in a disco show. Can anyone remember a SINGLE SONG from disco that has depth? They're fun dance numbers! It was meant to be a party show. Wait for the ballads next week if you want depth, boys.
Marty - Gods I LOVED this performance. He looked hot, sounded terrific and had fun. I smiled through the whole thing. I'm completely biased and he's my favourite, so he just made me melt. I liked the touches of falsetto, I'm glad he didn't do the whole thing that way because it probably would have gotten old fast, whereas those moments stood out more when there were fewer of them.
Emelia - She missed all the key changes and I wasn't a fan of the look either. Mark's Courtney Act comment was way off, though, Courtney looks a hell of a lot hotter than that. I can't really enjoy Emelia when she feels like such a fake to me.
I thought Andy and Jim were very Starsky & Hutch on a date, right down to the hair. I had to love Andy's flirty moment with Marty too, so cute! I think tonight would have been so much fun without the judges, who were much harsher than I feel they had a right to be considering the theme was bloody disco.
I am so sick of the bitching going on in fandom. Sean Astin's book may not be marketed perfectly but it is pretty good in its own right. He is just a normal guy with his own flaws (most of which he is the first to address) with his own perspective on Hollywood and filmmaking. It's not a tell-all book, but if it was I get the feeling the fandom wouldn't be too happy anyway. I swear he's completely demonised in this fandom, it's ridiculous. Arg. And the people in the Australian Idol fandom who seem to decide that theirs is the only opinion that matters! So. Damn. Rude.
Link of the day is the
australianidol community so you can all see what I mean.
And here's some pics from tonight. And one not from tonight, because I feel like it, dammit.

Marty.

So yeah, if you could fill me in on the upset, I'd like to know what the hoopla is about without having to get involved. Thanks!

LOL he doesn't write about Goonies much. It's mostly from just before shooting Encino Man to after shooting Lord of the Rings. It's damn interesting, though. I could swear the commentary thing was because he had another appointment, I think I heard that somewhere. Anyway, I believe he loved shooting The Goonies, he has a very sentimental attachment to it. That's what I've gathered from other interviews and things.
There's a lot of people saying he's hypocritical and egotistical and blah, blah, blah, which is not something I really get from the book. He has his flaws but he tries really hard to be a decent guy, which is something I find kind of commendable really. They also say he's really negative and neurotic, and that the book is marketed as a behind-the-scenes Lord of the Rings account but it really isn't. I think those are the major complaints.
I like it though! And I love Sean.

Aww, not much on Goonies? That sucks. I'm definitely going to get it, though, because Sean is the person I admire most in Hollywood, and I want to read what he has to say. I don't understand how anyone thinks that Sean is egotistical. I have never gotten that impression from him, and definitely not in the times that I have met him. He's so accomodating, and sweet, and he takes the time to talk to you, and make you feel like the only and most important person in the world. When I was at his photo shoot he spent so much time trying to make me laugh and making sure that I was having fun, and he didn't have to pay any attention to me at all. I mean, I was there working, sort of, and he didn't have to acknowledge me at all. That is not someone who is egotistical, you know? I think the people that think he's got an ego just don't get him at all.
