I'm going to finally pay Adele tomorrow.
Then I'll be all square for the con in November. Yesterday was okay, work at the school in the morning (there's a real little talker there now, very cute) and a work seminar thing at night, plus a film screening in the afternoon. Marty booted makes me very very sad, but he was sexy on Rove tonight. Work meeting this afternoon.
LOVED Guy on the Up Close & Personal show tonight. Once again he proved why he's the best Aussie idol there is, he knocked the others out of the water. He's just such an amazing performer. I love him so much, there's no Idol this year to compare. Courtney was excellent tonight too, but Guy's in another league.
Had a good editing session with Erin this afternoon as well. We arrived at about 2 pm, and Erin showed me the rough cut of the bar scene she had without any credits or sound, which I thought was terrific. There are a couple of problems with lighting that doesn't quite match but overall it looks great, the acting is consistent and we didn't have any major dramas. I asked her to change two cuts that were awkward, one in the middle of a word and one that looked a little odd, and we adjusted them so we both agreed on a better shot. Then we worked on the bedroom scene and decided that there were too many quick cuts, like it was a horror movie or something, so we decided on using one distance shot for a lot of the hotel room scene, with close-ups on Sarah looking at the clock, her feet as they walk past the photo equipment, and her sitting at the table. There is a really harsh cut at the end between her changing inside the room and a shot form outside with her leaving, so we're doing a little fade to black (we went through every cutting tool in the Final Cut Pro repertoire to get something we liked) and I asked her to extend the last shot a little - instead of starting with Sarah already halfway through the door and ending with a medium shot of her back in the hallway as she walks away, we started with the door closed and Sarah about two-thirds in shot in the hallway (not a huge change, but it makes a big difference.) We discussed sound and agreed on traffic noise at the start and then soft bar music in the hallway which would increase in volume as Sarah reached the bar.
Then we went back to the bar scene for our problematic long pan, which had a random woman popping into the background and slightly jerky camera movement. I suggested we cut away to Tony and the bartender and Erin was able to do just that, and we ended up being able to cut the woman out completely, which is really good. We discussed the credits and the footage of Japan a family friend of mine had provided, then we left.
I know that's all boring crap,so let's get to the goods. Here are my two favourite news pages in my two biggest fandoms: The Leaky Cauldron and
four_lobsters. I cannot praise these two sites enough, I get *all* my news from them and I never miss a fandom beat, it's great.
HUGE thanks go to
ladydewinter for animating my crownwhore icon!!!
Am I the only person who doesn't find Locke all that creepy without the setup music behind him? He just seems like a nice, downtrodden yet determined man.
Huge amount of Dom pics coming your way below - from Lost, a TV Guide article about Lost, Dom talking about Lost (presumably) in a TV interview, and some Vogue/Samsung launch. And one of Dom hugging Foxy. If you took it, let me know and I'll credit.

Doncha love how Charlie dresses exactly like Dom? The scarf, the nail polish, writing on hands, the t-shirts...

Love the new tattoo and the new arms. He is so buff right now.

I dunno why you would complain about getting 'lost' on an island with these guys for company. Seriously, the guys on Lost are SO DAMN HOT. My current favourite (aside from Dom) has to be Naveen/Sayid. He is so *thud* in the latest ep. I'm gonna spam you with him a bit tomorrow.

So damn CUTE!
Cuz baby you're my Kryptonite

I kinda respect him as well, though, I think he's brave as well as a sad character. THen again it wouldn't hurt him to tell the truth occasionally.
I thought the orange smile was cute :D

Exactly! And sort of sad at the same time. I know the people behind the show were deliberately misleading the audience with ominous music, and the way he said very little and kept to himself, but I never bought into it. For some reason, my gut told me he was just misunderstood. So far, he might be my favorite character; I'm not sure yet. It's still early, and I really like all the characters, so the jury's out on favorites for now.

My favourite's Charlie. I'm hopelessly biased. I like Sayid and Claire, too.

I worked with a guy at Virgin who was bald, with a tattoo on his head, and tats all over his arms, and this amazing scar that went from his ear across his cheek to his mouth, and when I first saw him I was like "Whoa. That guy must be tough. And scary." But the first time I talked to him I found that he was the sweetest little teddy bear of a guy, and I adored him. Looks can be deceiving. I never asked what that scar was from though. I was afraid it in some way would be insulting to him for me to ask.

It really is just Dom, only Dom playing himself if he was a musician on drugs *nods* he even dresses like Dom. Although Dom has a very different back story, a different angle on things. I think he's smarter than Charlie.
Have you seen the first Spiderman movie? Whenever I see Bonesaw I think he must have a chihuaha and a pot plant garden that he takes ridiculously good care of or something.

I agree, Dom is smarter than his character. But he has put a lot of his personality in to the character, and I think that's awesome. If I didn't know better, I'd think the role was written for him specifically.
I've seen the first Spiderman, but I don't know what character you're referring to. I've only seen it all the way through once.

Y'know, it might have been written for him if only a little.
He's the big guy that Peter wrestles before he's really got himself figured out.
