*melodramatic sigh* On the night after completing the most daunting writing challenge of my life, my friends have deserted me.

So I spent the evening at home on the couch with a new friend, one that wouldn't run off on me when I wanted to hang out with it. I could even get some sort of interaction if I just tried to remember what was coming next. That's right, I went out this afternoon and bought my Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban DVD, with free Lego Knight Bus (which I foolishly tried to assemble during JKR and Cuaron's interview and ended up putting everything in the wrong place.) I actually tried to go get it this morning after my optometrist appointment (I have, as I had suspected, dropped a full degree, making me -8 in one eye.) However for some reason Canberra and Sydney didn't have copies of PoA by 10:30 in the morning. So I came home, had lunch, and went to work early so I could be out by 4:30 and I could buy my DVD. I also got two copies for my boss, one for his other son and one for his niece.

I think my favourite parts by far would have to be the interviews (all of them, but most of all Cuaron and JKR. Obviously.) The trio are very cute - I love how Dan sort of flails madly when he's asked what kind of animals the other two would be if they were animagi, while Gary and David just handle it beautifully. It certainly rekindled my adoration of Gary Oldman. I liked the groupings, and I think Michael Gambon's wickedly funny. The last two interviews - the Dursleys and the filmmakers - really surprised me.

Did anyone else not notice that the Shrieking Shack moved around when they saw the movie at the cinema? All the behind the scenes stuff was great, I quite liked the Care of Magical Creatures bit, and it was lovely to see how they made Buckbeak. I wish they hadn't taken the Sir Cadogan scenes out of the movie, they were quite important and really good scenes.

The movie itself:

Things I Love So Much It Hurts:
1. Sirius. I love Sirius in the books and the casting of Gary Oldman was utterly inspired. I acntually watched all the scenes with him in them first and then watched the whole movie through. He's funny and crazy and loyal and stupid and haunted and everything else I expected Sirius Black to be.
2. The Shrieking Shack scene, particularly Remus/Sirius and the part when Snape walks in. It cracks me up, and the tension is wonderful. My two favourite actors playing my two favourite characters in one of my favourite scenes. *dies happy*
3. The little scene they added between Harry and Sirius, which really makes up for a lot of lost time in their relationship, I think. It's sweet and not overly sentimental and makes me tear up at the thought of...well, it won't happen until the fifth movie anyway, so I've got GoF to look forward to.

Things I Like A Lot:
1. Alfonso Cuaron. He has the most beautiful style of directing, the film is almost painterly it's so artistic. There are stills from it that really look like paintings. It's so fluid and graceful and just plain pretty that it hurts, and the mood is wonderful. I think Chris Columbus really loves the books, but Cuaron is leagues ahead of him in terms of style. He has a much lighter touch. (Plus, gorgeous. He has that little hate which I just love. And the beard-tugging thing in the interview? And then there's the talent, and the accent. I still want his filmically gifted babies.)
2. All the little things, like the ticking in the music during the Time Turner sequence, and the wonderful Whomping Willow scenes with the birds (and the part when it sheds all its leaves at once, which cracks me up) and Fred and George finishing each other's lines (another part that cracks me up every time is the "Come and join the big boys" line, which just sounds dirty.)
3. Boggart Snape. And pretty much anything else Snape does, including his scene taking over DADA class, because. Well, he's Snape, and he's Alan Rickman, and it's too good for words.
4. Harry playing under the covers with his wand.
5. Rupert Grint as Ron, even if Steve Kloves really does make his character seem like an oaf.
6. Stan Shunpike. Dunno why, I just do.
7. Pansy Parkinson and Parvati Patil.
8. I'm starting to like David Thewlis's performance as Lupin more every time I see the movie, I think he's very sweet and genuine.
9. The werewolf, which is the coolest werewolf I've ever seen on screen, all sinewy and still very man-like.
10. "Did what? Goodnight!" and Michael Gambon as Dumbledore in general.
11. The Marauder's Map, though I'm partial to pretty much anything Marauders, as long as it doesn't involve Peter, who I really, really hate. Lovely work from Timothy Spall though.
12. "Spiders! They want me to tapdance! I don't want to tapdance!" which should really go under the Ron section, but then there's Harry sitting and eating chocolate and saying "You tell those spiders," and I nearly fall off my chair giggling.

Things I Dislike:
1. The failure to address the Marauders, and Harry's Patronus.
2. Spells that don't make sense, such as adding "Maxima" to "Lumos" or Remus freezing the Whomping Willow with the most ridiculously simple spell imaginable. "Immobilus"? Give me a break.
3. Emma Watson's incredibly fake-sounding laugh, which mostly just kind of grates on me.
4. Devon Murray's truly awful acting. I think he has both the worst and the second worst line readings in the movie. Does anyone else think Cuaron put in the random chunky black kid, who is a far better actor, just to distract from the fact that Devon Murray is so miserable?

Things I Cannot Stand:
1. Mooney. I know I'm the most pedantic person in the world, but it gives me the shits. It's wrong.

You scored as Middle Class. You're content in your position and would prefer a house or a family than a seven figure pay cheque. But you have your moments of weakness when you buy a lottery ticket in the hope of knowing how the rich and famous live.

Usually when saving pictures I use the names of the people in the picture, then try to pick out one thing about it I like. I actually saved the below image as "Mark Craig fairy wand man donkey." Credit to Flash.

I agree in almost everything. Oh god. I love the Remus/Sirius scenes and just yesterday I thought how I love lupin more and more <3

But I don“t think Devons acting is miserable O.o, but when I will watch him closley the next time *g*

Ahh how I love December <3 Rotk SEE and Harry Potter *sigh*

I wanted to trust the casting directors from the beginning and at least give David Thewlis a chance, everybody was unnecessarily mean to him at the beginning and I think they turned out to be wrong.

It's really, very bad. Honest.

Shit, I forgot about RotK. I've got to not spend all my money Christmas shopping.

Agreed. I noticed that she used the same fake laugh for the interviews when the Shrunken Head (DIE! DIE SHRUNKEN HEAD!) asked extremely unfunny questions.

He got past them once, what's to say he won't do it again? Eck. Worst. Line. Ever.

I think the only reason Gary and David's laughs were real was because they thought the head was so bad it was funny.

Worst line ever followed closely by "He's been sighted, he's been sighted" and even back to "In case you hadn't noticed, my eyebrows have completely grown back" or whatever idiot thing he said in the first film.
