Apart from work, I have pretty much spent more than the last 24 hours solely in the company of my special extended collector's edition of Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
I *think* I've seen everything now, except the actual movie through and the non-cast commentaries.
First thing I have to mention that I loved was the Easter Egg interview, Hans Jensen interviewing Elijah. That had me in tears rolling around on the couch it was so damn funny, and it ended so sweetly. I love Elijah's dirty, dirty mouth. I love Dom more though, the little giggle things he does during the interview are so ridiculously cute.
I think my favourite new scenes are the Saruman scene (I'm sorry, that just wasn't satisfying in the theatrical cut) (although I don't know why Legolas killed Wormtongue) and the Mouth of Sauron, but I think that's just because it was ugly and creepy and cool. There are some VERY NICE Merry bits added in, it was good to see Dom, Miranda and Daisy given much more to do in the extended cut. The whole fight between Faramir and Denethor where Boromir appears was unnecessary. I loved trying to figure out who all the Corsairs were!
I'm such a convention nerd now, I sat there freeze-framing when I spotted someone I've met in the background and I watched the Weta Workshop thing first on the fifth appendix disk just so I could see Daniel, Warren and Ben. Both disks are delightful, the Cameras in Middle Earth and Passing of an Age docos had me crying, esp. Elijah's last scene and Dom's speech. The commentary's mostly great too, though I found myself getting annoyed when they were rambling about something not related to the scenes over the top of my favourite scenes. They're all such dorks but I find them adorable. I love how Orlando butts in with boring and useless information every so often as though he's discovered the Holy Grail and the fact that Christopher Lee just dubs his own scenes is starting to become endearing. I can even listen to Richard Taylor talk for more than 5 minutes at a time now.
Viggo kissing Billy!!!! Totally redeemed the wedding scene in my eyes now.
So yesterday I took Clare and her friend to Woden, bought my DVD (I had the regular EE pre-ordered but then I saw that the collector's one had the extra disk and I HAD to buy it) and then went to Civic in the absolutely pouring rain to meet Nutty for coffee. We bumped into Misha and it was all quite fun. And since then I've had work and the DVD and pretty much nothing else.
Okay, Link of the Day is Dom's bellybutton on patsie's LJ because we're not to repost and it's gorgeous. You get this pic instead:
