I am so sick of the Sean hate in the Lord of the Rings fandom.

I mean, all this ORC stuff has been wonderful and everyone's so generous with their reports and pictures, but I notice that more people couldn't care less about Sean than like him. It makes me sad, because he's a nice guy, clearly caring and sweet, and yet he gets the fuzzy end of the lollipop all the time.

Oh well, I suppose I love him and that's all that matters, right?

Didn't do much of anything today, work and cleaning.

Oh the irony; yesterday I was posting about Mike Rosenbaum and his hotness and today the next interest to pop up is Lex Luthor, so you can all bask in Mike's hotness! Joy.

LEX LUTHOR

Okay, so we all know (and if we don't we probably should) that Lex will eventually become Clark's mortal enemy. And those in the States who still have access to Smallville will have to forgive my post-season 3 ignorance, I'm afraid.

Lex is an incredibly intelligent, caring, sensitive and fragile character on Smallville, all of which are elements that I believe will eventually turn him against Clark. He's also ambitious, and he finds it too difficult to trust people - though this, I believe, is a characteristic forced upon him by his psychotic dear old dad. Smallville makes it fairly clear that Lionel is to blame for Lex's neuroses and will be to blame for Lex's slide into fear and hatred and eventually being the bad guy. In fact they pretty much hit us over the head with it, which is why Mike's subtle and charming performance as Lex that much more enchanting and heartbreaking. He's brilliant. He can break my heart or instill fear in it, or make me smile, all with just one look. When Mike's on the show picks up impressively and becomes practically electric. That's probably the reason the Clark/Lex pairing seems so right to me. I swear, Mike can create tension with inatimate objects (which is almost what he's doing with Clark anyway), and the thin line they walk between best friends and rivals definitely translates into sexual tension, for me anyway. I could NOT watch Smallville without Mike as Lex. The episodes Shattered and Asylum were among the very best of the show. He's amazing.

Okay, enough of me raving and babbling, here's the piccies.

Promotional:

Okay, I actually put that lot ^ up for the current [livejournal.com profile] rightclicklick challenge, which is glass. I realised how big a part glass plays in Lex's life and how much of a metaphor it is for his character - glass and mirrors.

Episode Stills:

My favourite.

Fan vids by sisabet and Luminosity, I really reccomend Without You I'm Nothing. It's a fanastic summary of the Clark/Lex relationship up until Asylum, extraordinary editing, and Mike moments during the lines "I'm unclean a libertine and every time you vent your spleen/I seem to lose the power of speech you're slipping slowly from my reach you/grow me like the evergreen you never see the lowly me at all". Just *amazing*.

and check out [livejournal.com profile] oxioniensis for fanart and caps and [livejournal.com profile] hackthis for good Smallville slash.

Okay, last pics today are a couple newbies I picked up from [livejournal.com profile] tinalikesstuff.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] nuregwen!

Still not all of the movie quotes have been guessed.

*cuddles Sean* I know, I feel bad for him. A lot of people stopped liking him after they read his book, so I haven't read it.

I guess I just appreciate honesty in a person, and his book was honest. I think I'm one of the few people who liked his book.

I've seen a lot of people say he's up himself and whatnot, but here's what I see: he's generous, friendly, genuine and caring, and openminded. He's human, he has flaws. Big deal.

*sad*

You haven't asked me... Sean's actually my favourite *g*
Much love for the man :)

And... was that Michael Rosenbaum up there? Tehe =D

Sean is my second favourite. He's a sentimental favourite and I was lucky enough to meet him last year in Brisbane. He was hot, he was charming, he was friendly and he hugged me. I *love* him.

Y'think? I raved about him for about ten minutes' worth of writing, lol. I love that guy.

I should find an icon of him *ponders*

Dunno... I always loved Sam more than all the other hobbits and so it came pretty natural... I don't know what the fuss is about that book, honestly... *shrugs*

Tehe... the only reason that made me watch Smallville at least for a bit. Apart from John Glover.
But after that mental asylum-thing I stopped... there's only so much crap I can take lol

Sorry, no offense :)

Aha! Mike icon!
I couldn't stand the show apart from Mike. He did something cool with Lex that I haven't really seen on TV before. He's definitely underappreciated.

Sam is my favourite character by a million miles.

One of the reasons that I dropped out of almost all of the LOTR communities I was a part of is because of all the snark out there against the actors. Everyone has a right to their opinion, but I just couldn't take not only the ridiculous gossip, but the fighting over things like Sean's book, and what he said in it. I read the book, and while I may be slightly biased because of my lifelong love of Sean, I was also able to keep an open mind and appreciate it for it's honesty. He was incredibly brave to write about himself so selflessly, putting his ego aside and allowing the cracks in his personality show. No one is perfect, and if any of the other guys wrote a book as honestly as Sean did, fangirls would be up in arms about that too. Just because he isn't the "cutest" or the "funniest" doesn't mean he's deserving of such shit from so-called fans. If any one of the fangirls who snark about him actually met him they'd see that he's more deserving of praise than almost any of the other boys because he is the most giving, sweet, kind person of them all. And all of the cast that I've met has been nice, they've all left impressions and none have disappointed me, but Sean is the one who went out of his way to make me feel like I was as special to him as he is to me. He's the greatest, and I hate that people refuse to see that.

Whew. That's really worked up for first thing in the morning!

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

I know *exactly* what you mean. He's kind and generous, and just because he's honest people see that as a personality flaw. Doesn't anybody appreciate honesty anymore? There's no bullshit with him, which makes his generosity and friendliness even better for it.

I wouldn't drop out of fandom, though. Too many nice pictures.

I still look at the pictures, and I've been reading some accounts of ORC, but I'm just so irritated by the people in the fandom that I have to ignore a lot. It was easier just to search when I want to see stuff than to be inundated with it on my flist. I know how I feel about the actors; I guess I don't need to know how everyone else feels. Just the people I like, the ones who have shown some intelligence about it all.

Its, when possessive, has no apostrophe. Yeah, it's 6:30 in the morning here. My inner grammer isn't completely up and running yet.

*nods* I like being flooded with it. It's getting easier to pick the good communities and users too - you stick to [livejournal.com profile] tinalikesstuff and [livejournal.com profile] four_lobsters and stuff like that and you can't go wrong :)

I'm just a grammar whore.

From: [identity profile] truffle-shuffle.livejournal.com

Tina's brilliant. She and [livejournal.com profile] patsie supply the best stuff out there, picture-wise. I've actually never checked out [livejournal.com profile] four_lobsters. Maybe I should. And [livejournal.com profile] nothing_to_say keeps me pretty informed with the rest.

I'm a grammer whore too. I correct people all the time, so it sucks when I mess up myself.

i love dom's shoes.
lex is my favourite character in smallville. I'm watching it on terrestial TV, so i'm only on series 2, but i love the way his character is so complex and multi-faceted.

I love it too, but you know it's got very little to do with the writing, which is crap. That's all Mike IMHO.
