GIP by [livejournal.com profile] kyleschick. Teh hawt.

I've been sick for the last two days with some weird bug that makes me feel all weak and dizzy and gives me a fever but has no other symptoms. Very strange. So I decided to read book 5 of Series of Unfortunate Events instead of updating. New ongoing characters OMG!

I saw Finding Neverland yesterday (my sister's birthday, and also Australia Day.) It was very, very good, the kids and Johnny Depp were all great. Kate Winslet was very good but her character annoyed me somewhat, dunno why. My favourite is probably Julie Christie (who is still gorgeous btw) as Kate's mum, very cool. Anyway, beautiful movie.

Today I did pretty much nothing, mostly slept. Exciting, isn't it? On with the interests meme!

LOST

This couldn't have come at a better time, because Lost starts next week in Australia and I want EVERYBODY on my friends list in Oz to watch it, regardless of whether or not you're a Dom fan, because it's an excellent, QUALITY show. at the very least watch the pilot, which is on either Tuesday or Thursday of next week. Okay, so Lost is about a bunch of people who survived a plane crash and are stranded on a deserted island. This ain't no Gilligan's Island. In fact, it's not like anything I've seen before. It's mystery, slightly scifi but mostly drama (the interactions between the characters and their flashbacks are just as interesting as the plot twists.) After the pilot, each episode follows an island-flashback scene formula, and each episode focuses on a different character (but you have to wait until episode 7 to see Dom's ep.) Aside from the main reason to watch (*cough*Dom*cough*) there are a few other reasons.
1. The writers. It's created by JJ Abrams (Alias and Felicity) but it's also got a mixed bag of other great writers from great shows, such as David Fury (Buffy/Angel - the mustard guy!) and Javi ([livejournal.com profile] chaodai). As a result the writing is clever, inventive and original, and only rarely stupid.
2. It's shot in Hawaii and it's just gorgeous.
3. The actors. The island on which these guys are stranded may as well be called The Island of Lost Hotass. I offer proof:

Reason #1 to watch Lost! omgchesthair Charlie (Dominic Monaghan), a washed-up, drugged-out former rock star. With a really cute accent.

To give the boys and lesbians incentive, I present Kate (Evangeline Lilly). Not the best character but very rawr.

The next two reasons to watch the show: Sayid (Naveen Andrews) and Sawyer (Josh Holloway.) Both total hotties. And for the slashers, definite sexual tension.

Locke (Terry O'Quinn), the island's biggest wildcard. Part guru and part menace, nobody's really sure what's up with this guy.

Another look at reason #1, in case you'd forgotten.

Shannon (Maggie Grace) is shallow, vain and bitchy.

And so's her brother Boone (Ian Somerhalder), only he might be slightly prettier.

Jack (Matthew Fox), our noble hero. Okay, so he's kind of boring, but our Foxy has a certain appeal...

Claire (Emilie de Raven), a very Australian and totally cute reason to watch the show. She's the pregnant, optimistic chick.

Jin (Daniel Dae Kim - y'know, from Angel? Gavin?) and Sun (Yun Jin Kim, for whom the role was written) are a Korean couple who don't speak English.

In case you were losing focus, I'm reviewing Reason #1.

Hurley (Jorge Garcia) is the funniest reason to watch the show, but his character is actually well-rounded - a minor miracle on an American TV show. Plus Jorge is an absolute sweetheart.

And now those reasons again, in different congifurations:

Humina *dies*.

And there's that #1 Reason again, just as a last piece of incentive!

Okay, now for the links. First of all if you do become a fan, The Fuselage is the place to be. The writers and actors and editors and everyone frequent there (and they really DO go, I've seen Dom, Ian, Terry O'Quinn, Javi, JJ, and Maggie there among others.)

Of course, you also have to go to Lost-Media, which is the best and most comprehensive Lost site I've been able to find.

And for shits and giggles The Sawyer Song.

Communities include [livejournal.com profile] lost_australia (not big yet, obviously)
[livejournal.com profile] lost_tv, which is the best comm right now but it often also filled with crap.
[livejournal.com profile] losticons because as soon as you find a new fandom you need icons!
[livejournal.com profile] lost_icontest in case you wanna make icons yourself.

I looked at my userinfo right now and was surprised at how many people are there who have friended me that I haven't friended back. If you are one of said people, PLEASE let me know who you are!

Hi. I friended you about a year ago and since then have just accepted the fact that you weren't interested in my journal (no problem there, not everyone is interested in everything). I've commented once or twice before, but not much. And since you asked, I thought now is good time to comment again and say hello.

I've been meaning to watch OZ for a while now. My house-mate lent me the first season but I haven't had the time yet. Well, I have, but I've been distracted by other things. I haven't watched Lost yet, either. I don't have regular TV access so it isn't easy. And then when I do, I completely forget. Do you know of any site where I can download the episodes?

Nice meeting you again!
