So damn tired.

Is anyone unconscious, bleeding profusely or otherwise injured out there? C'mon, I just took a First Aid course. I'm all qualified up! Now go have a severe allergic reacton. Go on....

The weekend went really well, the First Aid course was long but parts of it were fun. Hanging out with Tom and Nina was fun. But I came home so buggered last night and then just couldn't sleep at all (it was raining and VERY hot, and the streetlamp outside my window seemed really bright). I told Tom and Nina about the picture of John Mayer and Adam Levine today. They actually seemed surprised that I got it, which was interesting. Do they not know the power of the slasher? lol.

I can't believe my second Photobucket account has run out of bandwidth! I did get a third, but it's a TEMPORARY one. I hope. My old ones should be up in 2 days.

LOTR RPS

Domlijah is my favourite pairing because they make the most sense to me. Dom and Billy love each other, it's just...I dunno, different. I can't write Billy anyway, I'm hopeless at him, his voice is something I can't put my finger on. My SooperSekritOTP is Billy/Orlando though.

This is the good shit right here:

The A-List by [livejournal.com profile] the_larch because it's Dom/Colin Farrell. Which is enough reason to bow down and worship it.

Magic Fingers by [livejournal.com profile] msilverstar. I like Billy/Elijah too. My favourite story I ever wrote was Billy/Elijah, actually. This one is very sweet, and I like the characterisation of Elijah.

Selfish by [livejournal.com profile] sweetserene (who is always good, by the way). Very, very bitter Dom/Elijah, but very good. Too good. It hurts.

Learn to Write by [livejournal.com profile] rosemending. For something completely different, a silly, humourous Orli/Lij story parody. Funny stuff.

A bunch of Dom/Billy drabbles by [livejournal.com profile] kiltsandlollies (one of the best Dom/Billy writers) that come with pretty shiny pictures.

1. Drunk - World Without Sundays. This song is really sexy. Somebody wrote a fic to it recently. I forget who.

ETA: Drunk by [livejournal.com profile] beizy. It's very good :D

2. Adrienne - The Calling. But then you already knew that. Or you should already know that.

3. Bigmouth Strikes Again - Placebo. I dunno, this song cracks me up for some reason. It's angsty but in a funny way.

4. Since I Don't Have You - Guns n Roses. OMG pretty! Such a good late-night song.

5. Do You Know the Way to San Jose - Dionne Warwick. Mariam and I used to sing this in year 10, when we loved Shooting Fish. Very underrated movie.

6. Dude Looks Like a Lady - Aerosmith. Aerosmith make me smile. Even the song Pink still makes me smile, in spite of the whole Subway incident. Or maybe because of it. Whatever, this song kicks ass :D

7. Keep the Faith - Bon Jovi. Old school Bon Jovi is still one of my favourite bands, and since the video clip to this has been playing on our cable preview channel I've been singing it all the time.

8. I Make Hamburgers - The Whitlams.
The first customer was Megan
She came in for a hamburger with the lot
No meat
Hey that's a salad roll I said
and we started going out.

9. Oh Jean - Billy Boyd. Coz damn.

10. Trigger - Alex Lloyd. I love Alex Lloyd, he's a somewhat pretentious and incomprehensible Aussie singer, but I like him anyway. Maybe just because he sang a song called Green. I did a Brian (QaF) icon songset to Trigger once, it fits him well.

11. Back 2 Good - Matchbox Twenty. Don't get me wrong, I hate when people use '2' in song titles, but since Matchbox are my all-time favourite band I'll let them get away with it. I'm an easy listener at heart. Plus Rob Thomas's voice makes me knees wobbly.

12. She Bop (Live) - Cyndi Lauper. Cyndi is a goddess. And this song is about masturbating. She's so cool.

13. Sonnet - The Verve. Actually, I didn't know they had any other songs than Bittersweet Symphony. Shows what I know.

14. American Idiot - Green Day. Which was so a post-election anthem. I like music with a statement sometimes, and I think Green Day did this well, and at the perfect time.

15. Don't Stop Me Now - Queen. This song makes me sad and fierce and quixotic (hee) all at once. Queen will always, of course, be classic, but this song has a kind of desperation about it.

16. Popular - Darren Hayes. Because I'm a geek. I was a big fan of the Garden back in the day, I went to a concert. Darren is so camp and bi and wonderful. Plus this song is an anthem for Sims:Superstar.

17. Wash Away - Joe Purdy. It's a Lost song, and it's kind of cool.

18. Peaches & Cream - John Butler Trio. I like John Butler but listening to a whole CD can be a bit rough. Another Aussie group, check out Zebra and this song to get an idea of what they're life. John Butler's an ex-American hippy who kissed Rove (a male talk show presenter) at the ARIAs (our music awards.) It was cool.

19. I've Got to See You Again - Norah Jones. See? Easy listening. So jazzy.

20. I'm A Better Man (For Having Loved You) - David McAlmont. I like the mood of it, very Austin Powers.

Links of the Day! A Lost article from People magazine that's almost too cute.

Pics of the Day, two are from the Rolling Stone magazine as scanned by [livejournal.com profile] voodoo_in_tx so thank her. The other is Shox and Sala kissing. Coz it's hot. The first one I picked up from the [livejournal.com profile] kiltsandlollies fic rec earlier. Yummy.

Losing breath. Passing out. Perform EAR immediately.

Have you not heard the original version of Bigmouth Strikes Again? It's by The Smiths. Placebo does a good job with it, actually; very faithful. Let me know if you're interested and I will upload it for you. The Smiths are brilliant.

Haven't heard it, I'd love to though! Thanks :)

I never know much about music.

I emailed you a zip through yousendit of a bunch of Smiths songs (and one Muse cover of a Smiths song) to the email address listed in your user info. Hope you like it!

Okay, I've compared the Smiths and Placebo versions of Bigmouth Strikes Again. Whether because of bias (I heard it first, I like the band better) or whether it's just a good version, I prefer the Placebo one. It's not always easy to see bias and I know I'm easily swayed by what I heard first, so my opinion is not necessarily very fair.

I prefer The Smiths' Please Please blahdeblah to the Muse one, though, and I REALLY like This Charming Man.

Thanks again!

I think Placebo's version has more energy to it, and adds something that may have been missing. That particular song was never one of my favorites, but I love how Placebo do it. Please Please Please... is my favorite Smiths song, so I'm glad you like that one!

Just by doing it their usual way Placebo adds...urgency. It also sounds a lot less self-pitying. The Smiths version almost sounds bored.

Please Please Please is cool! Good mood to it. I don't know, I think the reason I like the Smiths version is because I'm more into easy listening than angry listening, which is what Muse sounds like.

The Smiths, and Morrissey solo, are definitely a bit of an acquired taste. Personally, I love The Smiths, but I am not into Morrissey alone, with the exception of two or three songs. He makes the definitive mopey music, and most times I can't stand it. The Smiths had Johnny Marr writing all the music, and so the songs had a little less...blah to them.

I still love that icon.

I like some of the stuff and not so much other bits. So like any normal band basically :)

I'm surprised by how well I've taken to World Without Sundays.
