My teeth hurt so fucking much augh!

So, apparently it's all normal and crap, it's just my new tooth pushing its way through, it'll be gone in about a week. Still hurts like all get out though, and I worked a *lot* less than I was planning to today as a result of SPLITTING HEADACHES. Now that my bitching and whining is over...

I did get to make many icons, so you will all get to see them later.

Meanwhile, my next interest:

MOVIES

I assume most people who know I am a film student would know I like movies. If not, I'm slightly worried. I'm a total movie buff and I'm becoming unfortunately picky in the movies I like (though this fortunately didn't stop me from loving Highway, so there's hope for me yet!) I think I'm somewhere between a snobby 'proper film student' and a casual movie-goer in the kinds of films I like. For one thing, I like to be entertained, something that a large portion of the film-loving community seems to have missed (see: Citizen Kane.) But I also appreciate good acting, scripting and directing. Here is a list of my favourite movies and a link to their IMDb information in case you want to lean more:

1. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

Best. Movies. Ever. (in my totally humble, very biased opinion, which you are of course entitled not to share, but if you think it's crap you may want to leave this journal quickly.)

Fellowship of the Ring
The Two Towers
The Return of the King

2. Singin' in the Rain

This has earned the second spot on my list only by being one of my favourite movies since I was three years old (not that it's not an excellent movie, but this has staying power.)

Singin' in the Rain

3. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Seriously, thank the gods (well, mostly Alfonso Cuaron, actually) for this movie because it completely restored my faith in the Harry Potter films, which had been sorely lacking. It's such a beautiful movie.

Prisoner of Azkaban

4. The Goonies

It may not be the best movie ever made but it's one of my favourites, and one of few I can rewatch a million times without it ever getting old.

The Goonies

5. Y Tu Mama Tambien & All About My Mother

Alfonso Cuaron is probably one of my favourite directors, I think his work is just beautiful, and this movie is bittersweet and clever and gayboyskissing. I love it.

Y Tu Mama Tambien (And Your Mother, Too)

This is a shared spot on my list, because people always want you to produce your top five movies but I can't knock either one of these off the list. All About My Mother is an incredibly powerful film about women and about the fluidity of gender but it's also light and enjoyable, something so few directors can manage.

All About My Mother

6. A Bout de Souffle (Breathless)*

Now we're getting into serious film geek territory - this is French New Wave, classic cinema. But believe me, I don't like films just because they're 'classics.' I fully expect to be bored in that "I appreciate the artistic merit of this film" way while watching classic movies in film class. I was totally shocked when this was shown in my first year of film and I fell in love with it. It's witty and crazy and what really kept me in film class all this time!
*Note: Don't get this film confused with the crappy Richard Gere remake.

Breathless

7. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

I'm just a sucker for Gene Wilder, piles of chocolate, good songs and amazing sets. Plus it's a good movie :D

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

8. Pulp Fiction

Because I wouldn't be a film student if this wasn't on my top 10 list and believe me, it deserves its place here. Probably one of the best films ever made.

Pulp Fiction

9. Some Like It Hot

This is one of the funniest movies of all time. C'mon, it's Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon in drag! The last line alone secures its spot on my top 10.

Some Like It Hot

10. Star Wars: The Original Trilogy

Shame about the new ones, because the old ones really were great.

A New Hope
The Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi

Everyone should read fag if they haven't already, and I think we've discovered the inspiration for the Shoebox pics. So does that mean I have to run off with & marry Nick Valensi now? Ah, he's not the real thing. I'll hold out for the real Sirius, thanks. *isnotpathetic*

It's a good movie, but I imagine it wouldn't be as cool if you didn't know what was going on!

Re: Mercutio Icon

Thankyou :)

Well, Pulp Fiction is just brilliant. Well written and fantastically filmed and scored. Hard to fault it really.
