I hereby declare today Brian Kinney Appreciation Day.
Firstly: Boring day, just went to work which completely wiped my out (big surprise, considering my tooth still hurts). But I did get TWO checks, one for $130 and one for $260, so I'm feeling very rich right about now :D
My next interest, if you haven't guessed, is>
Queer as Folk
Or it might as well be, considering how important he is to the show. Without him the show would FALL TO PIECES. Gale Harold is just a ridiculously beautiful man (which the part needs, I think - the guy in the UK version never did it for me) and he has the roe absolutely down. Brian is a falsely confident mess of insecurity, a guy whose father fucked him up badly but who has learned to live by his own rules and doesn't let anyone stop him, and who is more loving and caring than anyone else on TV no matter what he says. If you hadn't guessed? I love Brian.
I also love Debbie, my other favourite character on the show. I adore Mikey even though he can be annoying as anything sometimes, he reminds me a lot of myself, and his friendship with Brian has made me cry. Best episode of the ENTIRE SHOW, though, is the end of the first series, when Justin was bashed. I can watch it over and over again, it's so utterly brilliant. The only character I really can't stand is Ted, he bores the shit out of me no matter what he's doing. Still, Queer as Folk is a very slick, well-made show, and I LOVE THE MUSIC. Seriously, there is no other show on television that does music like Queer as Folk, every song matches the scene far too perfectly. I know that it's essentially a big gay soap opera but good acting and characterisation are what save it IMHO.
ETA: and of all the cast only two are gay. It's not hard to know which two, but that's still very cool.
But you want the pictures, right? We'll start with Gale coz I love him best.

Hal Sparks is a cool guy.

And the rest.

One of my favourite scenes.

Another of my favourite episodes, this one made me want to cry and drool at the same time. Not a good look.

qafdownloads - my little sister, who is 14 and still probably shouldn't be as obsessed with this show as she is, discovered this little gem of a community. You can get episodes, songs from episodes, any media you want from QaF right here. Good stuff.
qaficons - because I'm on an icon community for everything.
queerasquotes - just a cute, small community for fans.
Check out
lillithlotr's journals for the best pics I've seen of Sean and Elijah at Mardi Gras. I love that shiny suit so much, and I love Sean so much for getting wildly pissed and LOVING his role as king.
Made some Queer as Folk icons for Brian Kinney Appreciation Day. I didn't limit myself to Brian, though, so there's Justin, Emmett and Mikey in here too.

And that picture of them smoking in the credits? It's one of my all-time favorite pictures ever. It's just gorgeous.

Yep, it's from the credits. I love it too!

Ted's not so bad, originally he was the straight man (no pun intended) to Emmett's raging homo but his repression was a source of his own serious issues. He and Emmett now have a really great relationship of really sweet mutual support that is along similar lines to Brian and Mikey but without the sexual tension.

Yeah but...Ted is so BORING. And Ted and Emmett are supposed to still have that sexual tension, I think, it's just that it's hard to have sexual tension with Ted. Who is boring. Did I mention that I think Ted is boring? Emmett is really sweet and so, so strong. Such a brilliant character.
