Still sick, so no first day of uni today.
No work either. I slept a lot and tried not to throw up. Woohoo. Hopefully better tomorrow. I did get to watch Blues Brothers (gods I love the music and car chases in that movie) and PoA. But that's about it.
Awww, man, I want the DVDs for my next interest, but it is SO expensive. I've wanted it so long! *cries*
SLIDERS
Sliders remains, in my mind, one of the coolest TV shows ever. It was well-written, interesting and had good characters, and most importantly it was built on a genuinely interesting premise. I watched the first two seasons religiously, geeking out over the scifi aspects and adoring Jerry O'Connell (who, by the way, is still very hot on Crossing Jordan, but with a worse character.)
Here's a primer for those who've never heard of it: Quinn Mallory is a physics student at university. He's a serious nerd and has been investigating the possibilities of a theory of Einstein's that states that there are many dimensions in space, creating multiple versions of our world. Quinn discovers a way to jump from our dimension to another through a wormhole. He uses a timer to open the wormhole, and after a programmed amount of time the timer returns him home.
Quinn has a crush on a girl he works with, Wade Wells. He takes her and his professor, Maxamillian Arturo, with him on his second adventure. He has to make the wormhole bigger to accomodate them. Unfortunately he makes it too big and it kind of spirals outside and another poor sucker, a washed-up singer called Rembrandt Brown, gets sucked into it as well.
The next world they get to ends up having a (tidal wave? twister? killer bees? all happened, can't remember which one was in this ep.) Quinn forces the timer to open another wormhole and...uh-oh. They didn't go home, they don't know how to get back and now the timer's on the skids, setting whatever time it feels like before the next 'slide' into another dimension. So they just keep going in the hopes of getting home.
Unfortunately it all went hopelessly awry in the third season, and truly turned to crap after John Rhys-Davies left over artistic differences: "I was artistic..." Even Jerry, who seems like a very easygoing guy, left before the end. That's gotta tell you something. For a show with endless possibilities they really made a mess of things, but watch the first two seasons for great TV.
ETA: Jerry was also in one of my favourite movies as a teenager, Stand By Me. Awesome flick.

Professor Arturo

Rembrandt Brown (the idea is that there are often other versions on you on different worlds).

Wade Wells.

Quinn Mallory.

OMG Henry!

Okay, you know what? Jerry's hot:

The only other person I know on LJ who likes Sliders is
dudepower1982.
It would also be cool to get the Part of Five DVD set, I used to love that show too. It's Foxy's old show! Anyone know any good sites about it?
Link of the Day is my favourite new community,
teh_music. As you all know I'm not so much a music person but this community is SO COOL. Go join it.
Pics of the Day - well, just coz you lot don't like Jake as much as I do doesn't mean I'm not gonna post him. So Jake, who is hot.
