I wasn't going to do this but fuck it, this is my journal and this is how I'm feeling right now.

How can people want to go backwards in tolerance and understanding just because the economy's doing okay and they're not faring too badly? What about EVERYBODY ELSE who is so much worse off than them? There are people still dying every damn day in Iraq because Bush decided he wanted to go to war against them with no real backup. The situations there is NOT BETTER. Gay people can't get married or adopt children because our governments are too stupid and blind to recognise that they're human too, and yet people keep voting for them. It's insane and frightening and every time I think about the state of the world it makes me want to cry or scream or move to somewhere in Europe that's more open-minded. Who the fuck cares what religion you are? Why does believing in God and loving your mother make you a better person? Why do they want to keep having guns in America when kids in schools are being killed by them? Why the HELL does the Australian government want to take away our student unions? What gives one person the right to say that they're better than another anyway?!

So yeah, I had a shitty day. Luke cried for an hour and I hurt my wrist and Clare had an essay due that I read and nearly cried from frustration. But you know what, the concept of people not accepting other people just because they're different, or wanting to breed more hate and frustration just so that they can keep running the damn country, makes me sick.

Feel free to express this and more, because there's much, much more you could've said. I don't understand how governments have become frozen in 1950s mentalities and expect to effectively run a country that's 50 years ahead of them. Unfortunately, the only thing that has changed for a lot of people is the outer trappings, but the mindsets are scarily similar to what was there half a century ago. So many times I have asked family and friends what they have against gay people, or why do they follow a certain belief. They can never offer satisfactory reasons because I don't think they even know themselvs. Tis sad.
