I don't usually do this, but I want it on record in case I'm right.
What if the 'other side of the island' referenced here isn't actually a physical side, but an alternate version of the island? They access it through the hatch, and they find the tail end survivors there? Or maybe The Others?

That's a hella good theory. It really is. My only other theories were that Rousseau would eat it in the very near future and that
