Got a lot to say again...damned Monday nights.

But first off...
i'm in slytherin!

Okay. Summary of my day. I slept for a very long time. Shoutout to Nikki's aunt and my Mum's friend Chris, hope your surgery next week goes okay. I read the paper, and caught the bus to uni in the pouring rain, reading CoS. It was really pouring for most of today. Then I went to my lecture and got all excited about the horror movies, but was still rather perturbed by the lack of a mention of Japanese horror films, coz it's got some great ones these days. Also, all day I've though of book 5 about once an hour. It's driving me crazy, only 18 days away. Anyway, I watched The Shining (Nicholson version), which despite some rather odd funny parts such as Shelly Duvall's terrible running and frozen Jack at the end and images of Bart Simpson's "Shinning" and Xander operating the puppet in The Puppet Show running through my head, was really scary and very cool. Ended rather abruptly, though. Then I bumped into Tom and Nina. Nina was rather hyperactive, so the conversations were veering towards the unintelligable, which is always fun. Tom drove me home, coz he's a sweetheart. Then I sent out all the Flashfic assignments. I've got to get to work on mine soon. Then dinner and TV. Did I mention I bought the Evanescence CD last week? it's good.

The Shining
This movie is really bloody scary. The music makes my hair stand on end. Although I was much more scared at the beginning than at the end once Jack went crazy. That was more...I don't know, I was just thinking about how cool Nicholson is and stuff. Earlier in the movie everything's really creepy and repressed, it's all very subtle--like Jack and the kid in the bedroom, which I thought was the scariest part of the damn movie. I mentioned most of my other comments in the introduction. That hotel is gorgeous. And Shelly Duvall's scared face got kinda irritating eventually. Oh my god, the bunny and the guy in the room. Anything *but* scary. That was just hilarious.

Spoilers-->Well, obviously he's not dead, but my God a lot happened tonight! And yay for no Spawn. Okay, Almeida and Michelle. I liked her this episode, the brother plot is much cooler than some stupid shared boyfriend crap I thought they were going to pull on us. Almeida rocks my socks. The presidential coup is superb and very, very scary. Kate and Yusuf rock, and I love the focus on how shitty the racist bastards get every time there's tension between the US and the Middle East and how misdirected it gets. The torture scenes were...well, torture. My poor bitch. It was pretty damn nasty, but Kiefer's always cool, even under torture. Almeida Almeida Almeida! no more spoilers

Queer as Folk
Very disappointing ep tonight--which is ironic, really, since it was the ep that got me hooked in the first place. Justin was sort of hovering on the fine line between excessively slutty and arrogant, and very cool. I loved the way he stood up to his bastard father. Poor Brian!!! Poor sexy Brian, of course. He's so smitten with Justin. He was basically fucked the second Justin walked into his life, it's fantastic, esp. since the relationship is doomed. He's completely pussy-whipped and doesn't even know it. My favourite part of this ep, though, was Emmett. Go figure. He saved some very dull Michael scenes. I so badly hate Dr David. The Melanie/Dr Dull friendship is slightly squicky. I want a Studs and Suds night at straight clubs, dammit!!!! I know Brian jerks Michael around but...I can't help but feel as though half of it is exactly because Michael lets him, and you can tell Brian loves him. How cute was it that Brian got referred to as both the Wicked Witch and Goldilocks in the same ep? Moving on.

Buffy
Yay for Storyteller! This was hilarious.
Highlights:
We are as Gods!, the ME demon singing "we are as Gods!", the window drape, the overwhelming gayness of the ep, Andrew's line about Spike and Wood's sexual tension, Andrew's realisation that he deserves to die, Jonathan (because I've always loved Jonathan), the Big Board, Wood and Spike's tension (not just the line about it, because I love this plotline), and Spike's repeat performance.
Low points:
Xander and Anya. Forced much?, the Seal making Bringers (I just thought that didn't make sense), Buffy telling Andrew life's not a story, when that's exactly what it is. Telling stories is a psychological necessity, and life *is* a story.
So overall, a very cool episode. I love Andrew, he's the perfect comic relief, and he manages to undergo a great transformation from comic relief to fully realised character in just this one series. Right now he's kinda on the threshold. Spoilers for Chosen-->His line in the final, "Why didn't I die?", is his shining moment for me. I love love love it. Meanwhile, it was cool to go back through the seasons using mentions of past afflictions. I love Jonathan!
Are we up to Lies already? Man this season's going by fast.

I'm finally reading Omar G's reviews of the finales. You'd better leave me to that. I'll get through the rest of the usual stuff quickly.

Today's rec isn't mindblowing, but it's pretty nice and understated. It's for the [livejournal.com profile] contrelamontre White challenge, and it's more John/Bobby X2 stuff. It's called A Blaze of White, more of that hot/cold stuff, rated PG.

Pics of the day are *so cute!!!!* I couldn't cut it down to fewer than this. I loved all these pics. Astin, Billy and Lij at the MTVMAs. But first...I had to make these. Couldn't find a great pic of Spike and Wood...but still. This line in Storyteller was too funny to just let pass.

Because it just wouldn't be an event unless Sean got to kiss somebody.
