Early one mo~rning just as the sun was shi~ning...*hums*
now I've got that song in my head. Today I worked on my essay all day and got it done and handed it in, yay! 1990 words. Only 10 under, after all that. Then again I did quote Max Danger. By the way, if there are any Japan fans out there (ahem, Nutty) who want to go, or anyone who's been, you should definitely read Max Danger: The Adventures of an Expat in Tokyo. They're now slightly dated but no less hilarious. I must admit, even Japan has its moments. I think I was just there too long and everything was soured, you know?
Gotta get up early tomorrow to watch Thelma and Louise for film class coz I missed last Thursday's screening, so here are my reviews.

Spoilers-->Grrrr! Why do they ALWAYS have to kill off the nice Middle Eastern men? first the gorgeous Reza (still very much missed by me at least) and now Yusuf. I liked him, dammit. But I am growing more in love with Almeida by the day. He was lovely tonight. Esp. that bit with the bitch from the office and the bastard from higher up, that took guts. I loved the bastard's line "Don't make me the bad guy here." Okay, he was set up as a bad guy during his first *phone call* to Almeida. Love Almeida. Moving on to Jack. (*mmmmJack*) Firstly, it must take a lot to manage to be threatening while naked, even with a gun, but he pulled it off nicely. I think I forgot to mention last week how much I appreciated the nakedness of Jack, even though the torture was horrible and awful and not something I wanted to see, ever. Poor Jack. I told you he wasn't dead. But okay, just a *tad* premature to having him running around chasing bad guys within an hour of being clinically dead?! Especially considering the fact that Brian was wandering around holding his ribs for 2 days after Justin's baddad! bashed him. More on that later. Kate was a bit wimpy tonight, really. She's usually much cooler. Lynn rocked, until that rather unfortunate stair-falling incident. Oooh, evil evil vice-president man! Poor Lynn was trying so hard to get her message across. Prez Palmer was nice tonight, I liked him. All understated. Oooh, evil senators!!! Bad, stupid people! Grr. Spawn still out of the picture. No more spoilers.
Queer as Folk
Now this is the episode that really got me hooked. It's a little overdramatic, but Justin's baddad! reeled me in. That guy's such a bastard. I *loved* Brian's conflict between helping Justin and kicking him out, and the idea that violence didn't deter him but forcing Justin to deny himself did. That was fantastic. "That's not love, that's hate. Coming, Justin?" Also, later, "It's not lying if they make you." Poor torn Michael. He was good tonight, I liked the conflict they had going with him. I want Emmett's blue hat!!!! Though all the hats tonight make me think he had a hideous haircut this ep or something. The scene where Brian drives the car through the store window remains a show classic, esp. the "What do you think honey?" line afterwards. I love Brian *sigh*. Um...there was something else...Ah yes! Justin has Brian so very domesticated! It's great. I still don't like Justin much, and the part where he was dancing and singing to the music was mostly just embarassing, but that final scene was very cute.
I love the way this show's put together, the music they use and quick zooms and stuff. They manage to actually capture what it's like to be in a club or similar. I like the dialogue, too. It's a really good show, technically. Looking forward to Tipping the Velvet this week, apparently it's a bit Queer as Folk for lesbians-ish.
Buffy
First off, there was a bit of a problem taping, I missed most of Spike and Robin's fight scene and a tiny bit of Nikki and Spike's fight scene at the beginning. The issues in tonight's ep were excellent, and I do believe the Robin and Nikki Wood storyline is one of my favourite in recent years. Nikki was awesome, and looks much more like the character in the Tales of the Slayer graphic novel than the first actress did. The whole deal with the duster is also cool--Spike took it from Nikki, Robin took it, Spike took it back. The interplay of mothers was fun, but Spike's Oedipal mother was very creepy. There's a lot of talk on the net about how much his mother was like Buffy--her name's Anne, curly blonde hair. I'm rather unconvinced, although Spike seems somewhat Oedipal himself--not nearly as much as Connor though! Moving on. Robin and Spike was just too hot for words. It probably shouldn't be, but it *so* was. Sexual tension you could cut with a knife? I dunno, I looked for it, but whatever the tension was it was fantastic. Great acting from the boys. DB Woodside (Principal Wood) looked particularly hot tonight, as Spike was spoiled by the appearance of Wood. Andrew's line about Fred sounding "effeminate" was unbelievably cute. There's supposed to be a lot of Wesley/Willow (well, you should hope so!) and Willow/Fred stuff going on tomorrow night, I'm looking forward to seeing it, on Angel. Oooh, bad naughty Giles, conspiring to kill Spike! I get his point, but it really is like killing Dawn, and very prematurely in my opinion. After all, he may be a danger to some, but he's also a great fighter, and there's a lot of them to keep him in check. I mean, Robin thought he could kill Spike. Hello? Spike offed two Slayers, and nobody was able to kill him for centuries in spite of his high profile. Wood never had a chance, against Spike or BadSpike. The line about him being an instrument of evil--yes, but he's also a good guy.
The easy way Spike talks about his past as a vampire interests me, coz he seems to understand somthing within months of becoming human that Angel still is yet to understand--he's not the vamp. That's pretty cool to me, I liked that. Spike's pretty good with the self-acceptance. He's not broody and whiny and bloody stupid and his hair doesn't stick straight up...sorry, I digress. ;)
powrhug's 2 Things You'd Never...

Harry Potter, my friends.

Not care about anything.
Kill myself.

Well if I said them now, I would automatically be lying. So screw that.
--Name 2 things you've never figured out.
Why I have so many nervous ticks when I'm not a particularly nervous person. (nail biting, leg rubbing, leg jumping, hair twirling...the list goes on...)
Karlie.
--Name 2 things you feel that you'd never change your mind about.
Incest, which creeps me out in the extreme. It's my ultimate squick.

That's right, I'm reccing wing!fic. The wings are becoming sickening, it's the latest trend running around LotRiPS, but Fledgling and its sequel are gorgeous. Coz, cuttlefish. Rated PG, Domlijah.
